It appears that as from October 2009 new regulations come into force regarding the employment of staff and volunteers working with children and vunerable people. Anyone working with these groups will have to be registered with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (and pay £64 for the privilage - although volunteers are free. This will also include committee members. Propsective employees must apply first and if you employ them before they are registered and cleared you can be fined up to £5000 or even imprisoned Current employees without a CRB are n…

Change Of Registration Visit
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi I'm having a major panic - while I was at uni yesterday my deputy took a phone call from OFSTED, to say they are visiting next week to discuss our change of registration. (Bless her she forgot to mention this in our debrief and sent me a text later.) The children centre in our community centre is having some building work done and I have requested that we increase our hours (currently sessional, but to go to 5hrs a day). Any ideas what I need to produce, show and consider. Bit of nightmare as we are actually having to empty our cupboard that week for the building work - so am very concerned I won't have the right bits to hand as a lot of the paper work is …

we are a committee run pre-school and the registered person is the chairperson who only picks and drops off her child. As I am running the day to day sessions as the supervisor OFSTED have informed me that I should of had a suitability interview with them and filled out a health declaration booklet and a DC02 form . I have now done this and they have rung to say they have flagged us as under investigations. The woman was very abrupt and most dis pleased. ( I have been running the setting for 18 months.) She also said my CRB is not valid as it is 3 years old. Do we have to update the staff CRB checks every 3 years? the supervisor before me didn't fill in these forms et…

Hi, i was just wondering if any other childminders had come across prospective parents who asked to take away copies of our ofsted inspection reports. I have recently found out that we have to give them one. Does anyone else have any concerns with this as for us childminders they do include personal information, our full address, registration no etc which could be used to claim tax credits.

by Guest- 10 replies

Hi We are a small rural playgroup which is presently supposedly ran by a committee. Due to lack of interest from committee members it has been suggested to me to look towards having Trustees. Does anyone have any experience of this? Does it work or just cause more headaches? Where can I find more information. Does it affect your charity status. All help gratefully received. Chocoholic

Do we have to inform Ofsted if we dismiss a person for gross misconduct even if it doesn't involve children. We dismissed a member of staff recently because of a breakdown of trust. Thanks.
