Allergy Nightmare 1 2

I am glad that today is friday and I have 2 whole days to calm down until I next see the following parent. Parent provided a cake for son's birthday party, son has allergy to egg (epi pen) and the cake contained egg, sadly the child's key worker agreed to mums request that we scrape some icing off and give this to the son with some squirty cream. I refused to do this as we have signed written instructions from parent that says high risk allergy to egg, scraping the icing off which has been touching the cake made with egg would result in cross contamination. Mum turned up after we had 'done' the cake (she was half an hour late) and she went mad because we gave her son w…

Hi, those of you who have read my previous threads will know that we have a potential 'home' crisis. We may have to leave the building we are in if it is sold this year, so we're starting to look at options. One of these is to have a portakabin as they make bespoke preschool units called Lilliput nurseries which look very good - they've sent me some literature, but no prices (surprise) so what I'd like to know is - does anyone have one, what are they like in use, and what sort of price are they going to be? Hi all, i am in the throws of a interesting conversation with a friend who works in another nursery. she said that in her baby room they have six babies, 2 staff, but one staff is level two qualified and the other is working towards level three (and level two person about to start level three), so basically a level two , and a training level three person, is this allowed?. she says both staff are experienced in nursery, they work very well and parents extremely happy with care and everything else. the manager in the nursery also works closely with them. now what she is wondering is, is this allowed?, is staffing qulaifications per room more management choice rather t…

Recently I have had a few parents emailing me about all kinds of things. (They don't read Newsletters, notices on the boards, etc) I was wondering whether any of you use parents e mails to send info such as Newsletters, invoices etc. What is the legal situation here? By the way, I have been sooo busy I haven't been on the forum for ages (I used to log in a couple of times every day) and I have noticed that I have 30 pages to catch up on. Somehow I don't think I will have time to do that!!! I will just skim though the last few pages and try to make time to look in every day. I have missed coming in for my daily dose!!! Sue J
