Hi, I just wanted to get other peoples views on what you thought about practitioners gaining the graduate status and whether you thought this would improve the way that the foundation stage is delivered in settings in the long term....

Staff On Committee?
by Guest- 11 replies

Hi Well think I may be right in saying that the new PSLA 2008 constitution says staff can go on the committee?? Just wondered if any of you had thought about it. I know you would not be allowed to vote on wages etc. We, as staff are concerned about a few issues... Not many new parents interested in going on committee Currently only 20% of the current comm have child actually at pre-school! and some of these members are thinking of staying on! Finances awful (so much so we as staff ar not claiming for a lot of work and although this would be ok if there was a lot of appreciation for it I cant say Ive heard of much...only complaint..see below!) Concerned that a new p…

Job Title

Hi all I am the business manager (voluntary) of a playgroup and am having a little problem with the staff. They have always been called playworkers and that's what was on their T&Cs and job descriptions when I took on my role. However, they are now unhappy at being called playworkers and want a new title (but don't know what - they also won't wear tabbards as they "dont'want to look like a bunch of cleaners"). Any suggestions for job titles please?

Supervisors Appraisal?

Hi all Just a qucik question...my supervisor is not happy about being appraised by a committee member. The member has basically said that supervisor only @sometimes@ does things eg sets up the room, planning etc as comm member has never seen her actually do it......well wouldnt get done unless supervisor did as she is the only one (we are all in training still!). Supervisor says that she should not be appraised by people thta have no childcare qualifications/experience and that if they should actually be looking at the PVI teacher and OFSTED! Just wondered who appraises your supervisor?

Independent Children

Hi, we already give our children plenty of opportunities to be independant but I need to come up with something new for my course work, any ideas? We already do own food and drink at snack, name cards/ self registration, low level equipment available to the children. Would like to get them more independant for going outside, only problem is no where to put coats at an accessable height for them! Thanks in advance for all the superb bits of information I know I'm going to recieve : )

If a child's behaviour is extreme and casuing hurt to staff and children does anyone have a policy that says the child will be sent home? If so, I would be really grateful if I could see it! Many thanks in advance!
