So is there anyone else out there stuck with holiday 'homework'? I've got the SEF to do, Continuous Provision to complete, daily spontaneous activities to write up and identify learning and how we can incorporate next steps into next term. There are the learning journeys for my key group to update and photographs to sort. Ofsted registration to pay. All this and builders to organise to repair a hole in the ceiling where some plaster fell off last weekend! What's anyone else doing?

Hi, sorry for what will be a very long first post fom me lol. I work at a pre school, I went to work as usual this morning ony for our supervisor to tell us that she has a new job and is finishing with us next friday Obviously it left us all in a bit of a flap and after discussions I was asked to take over as supervisor, it is something I have always wanted to do - my dream if you want me to be soppy lol Anyway, I have no experience of management although I have been working in childcare for 14 years (gosh that makes me feel old!) I have a level 3 btec nd, i contacted the cwc today and they have told me that is definately enough qualification to work as a sup…

Hello, How do you deal with high level of sickness, one particular staff started in August/Sept, sick days taken off is 12 days in total. other staff are complaining, l once overheard her say to a staff that she should not be in the garden because she has a bad chest, she later called in sick, and was off for 5 days. I called her into the office for a chat she told me she is stressed, because she cannot get a job in a school (she is a qualified teacher, and has been for few interviews) and is finding it difficult to manage 2 particular children, and would be okay if this 2 kids are not in her group, we have all had managing behaviour training. When i employed her…

We have a child at Preschool, who although only 2 years old, is as large as some of our 4 year olds. She uses her size to push the other 2 year olds about - physically as well as mentally. The consequence is that they are all scared of her and start crying if she comes close, even at snack time, so we have had to move her to be with the older children - and they don't like her either!. Parents who bring younger children along to drop of their older children with us are very wary of her. We try to ensure that her play is well scaffolded by the adults, and we have tried to explain that her behaviour is unacceptable and praise the good behaviour - all the usual things. H…

Advice please!! We have approx 20 children between 2 rooms free flowing aged 2-5. Majority 2 yr olds. Over the past few months we have been watching the children we really feel that some children need that little bit more ie 2 1/2 and 3years plus children. Does anyone else in a mixed age setting serpate their children at all or do you free flow altogether all the time. We havent been seperating them at all maybe just for the odd story but the little ones just seem to be wrecking the older childrens play.

Hi Its been a long time since I last made a post so I do apologise if its in the wrong place. We currently have a committe run pre-school, in which we have our own prefab building which is nearly 30yrs old and needs replacing. We understand we can apply for a large capital grant, which has to be in by 16th Jan!. We have also recently found out that next door to us they are building a new childrens centre and they would like to combine the two together. I am all for this as I think its the way foward. I would like to know if anyone has been through this or going through this?. I also need to find out how we go about finding out how much it would cost, including removal o…
