Ive revamped my Operational Plan to include the EYFS under the 5 outcomes of Every Child Matters. I trawled and trawled to give myself some inspiration to start and found this, thought I would share in case anyone else was in the same position. http://www.bromleycma.org.uk/eyfs/Inserts.pdf

In this month's EYE magazine the head of th NDNA has written an article about the credit crunch. Mentioned at the bottom is a free sustainability tool which has been designed by them in conjunction with the DCSF. Here's the link to the NDNA website if anyone is interested. Its basically an excel spreadsheet - it looks very comprehensive although I'm not sure how flexible it is or how easy to use. Maz

Who is responsible for paying staff their holiday pay? Who pays sick pay? How can we survive when charging £4.50 per session?? Can anyone help with this irritating problem so that we can get on with the important issues such as planning, observing, assessing, supporting parents/carers & children, to name just a few...?!

Trpuble With Assistant Supervisor
by Guest- 21 replies

Hi, I am new to the forum and wondered if anyone else has problems with staff not pulling their weight. I am the supervisor of a preschool and have a member of staff who is currently doing her nvq 3 but is really not interested in her job. If I say any thing to her regarding her performance she sulks and when I speak to the committee about her they use the same excuse, she is young (she is 22). It is driving me mad!

Hi everyone, I had a query from a colleague at a different setting I have a query regarding the over 5s in our setting. We are an after school and holiday club who provides care for children aged 3 -11yrs. obviously we have guidance for the care of our children under 5 come September, and have relevant staff etc.. We will still staff our club the same regardless, however, I was wondering whether if no children attend who are under 5 is there no guidance now for them? or should we still work to the old day care standards? (specifically relating to children who are 5-8yrs who would previously have been looked after according to the day care standards). I was ask…

Hello, I'm a new member and this is my very first post so I hope you will all be very gentle with me! I am Supervisor in a committee-run pre-school setting. We offer flexible full day care for up to 17 2 - 5 year olds from 9.15am to 3pm Monday to Friday. We have just lost two Level 3 qualified staff members and are looking to recruit a new Deputy Supervisor. The best candidate is currently working in a maintained school nursery and has a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. I checked this out with the CWDC and they informed me that as this qualification is not listed on the Early Years and Playwork Database it would not be considered suitable. They suggested…

Help - Cant Find It Now
by Guest- 5 replies

A few months ago someone posted their copy of the record system they would be developing in Sept for EYFS. I stupidly didnt save it and now cant find it anywhere despite trawling through the resouces section. Basically it was an adapted version of the whole doucument taken form the EYFS except the middle section was blanked out so that we can record achievements in the relevent spaces. It is the the one with the 6 areas of learning, the months are down the left hand side and look listen and note on the right hand side. It is 32 pages long! If anyone knows where I can find it I would be eternally grateful. xx

Charity Bank Account

We have just been notified of new bank charges from Natwest. Even though we are a registered charity they have introduced business banking charges which is a shock when we used to pay nothing. Does anyone know a bank that offers free banking to registered charities?

Right I need some help, I am confused with all the new changes to the EYFS in terms of qualified staff. As I think I understand it, that all staff have to or be working towards level 2 in early years. This is an hypothetical situation to help me understand this: So say a member of staff who had over 20 years experience but did not have a level 2 nor wanting to complete for personal reasons, but as kept up to date with short courses i.e EYFS, Safegarding Children etc. What would you do? Does this member of staff have to complete the level 2 in order to stay in childcare? Thanks in Advance. Beth
