please bear with me this may take some explaining At the moment we are open 8am-6pm for children aged 3mths - 5 and fully flexible parents can book anything from 2 1/2 to 10 hours a day, we just take off the eyf for funded children and charge a flat hourly rate for the rest With all the changes that we've had to undertake we've cut our opening hours and this seems to have opened a can of worms so i thought i'd ask the experts we will be open from 9 am til 3.15 pm parents can book in for the full day (we have 3 children in September in from 9 - 3.15 = 6 1/4 hours) children are 2-5 our session times are 9 - 11.30 or 12.45 - 3.15 parents can choose just to have t…

Not sure if this is in the right place but I wondered if anyone else has had a suitable person interview with Ofsted and what it entailed. They have rang me today to come tomorrow. I was told it will be a two hour interview similar to an inspection! I have to answer questions on the five outcomes and show id,employment history. Any advice appreciated. Abijac

Paying Supply Cover
by Guest- 3 replies
- 1.5k views
Due to various circumstances (not least all the EYFS trainings) we have had to use a lot of supply cover this year. I think they should be paid in the same way as the regular staff. We have a PAYE program, Sage, which works it all out as I understand it. BUT supply are not entered into that system, they are paid a cheque covering the sessions worked without any deductions. That is fine for those who only do supply for us - they'll not earn enough to pay tax or NI contributions I think. But what about those who also have other jobs? Is it our responsibility to contact Inland Revenue? I think they have all completed a P46 (?) but these are just filed. Should they be sent of…

New Starter Enquiries
by Guest- 14 replies

Has anyone noticed a decline in the number of enquiries from new parents. We don't seem to be having so many new enquiries as we did this time last year. Our prices are the same, good Ofsted report etc. Just wondering what other PVI settings are experiencing. Also, are you all going to put up your fees this year or does the thought worry you as it might scare parents off/make them leave due to affordability.

Are There Any Alternatives?
by Guest- 22 replies

Are there any charity run pre-schools out there who use an alternative 'body' than the PLA? We had out AGM yesterday (mmmm 4 parents turned up). Anyway, the directors (as we are also a company limited by guarentee) would like to drop the PLA in favour of a different constitution. The present one just doesnt suit the needs of the group! They would like to have a 'friends' of instead of a committee with a chair, secretary etc. The staff's concern is that the PLA also give legal advice and guidance etc and for staff protection we have to have an alternative in place. I do know that we dont have to (apparently) go through the 'give back everything you own t…

Hello Does anyone have a job description for a deputy pre-school supervisor I could have a peek at? I really need to look at ours and review it, especially with the EYFS bits all coming in. Also can I ask a really dopey question (it is only 10 days till we break up and I have lost all brain capacity)- what responsibilties does your deputy have when supervisor is leading session. Thank you
