Hi We are trying to orgainise our provison into workshops we have two largish! sized rooms for children aged 2-5 free flow.(max 20 children) We feel we still need to split the children at times as the 2's get tired . We try and use each room as a base for 2-3's and 3-5's for these split times , we need to use one of the rooms also for lunch tables so decided to put these in with the messy activities ie sand water malleable in the 2-3 rooms so that mess is altogether! We are finding that the 3-5s are getting a bit bored in the split times as their arent so many toys in their room. I suppose the solution is to get a happy mix of workshops! Does anyone split theit…

Just wondered if anyone does peer observations on the staff? How do you do this, are you using a specific format or just looking at each staff member during a set period of time. My deputy and I thought this would help with staff development and appraisals. Any ideas would be great! Thanks

Hi, As an authority, we were discussing the possibility of issuing every practitioner with a professional development booklet, into which they could record the training events that they have attended: a bit like a passport, if you like. Trainers could put in stickers and a signature at the end of the event, and the practitioner would then have an up to date record to take to job interviews, etc. At the moment, our LA issues certificates for each event and training session attended, which some practitioners make into booklets themselves. What do other people do?

I have just filled out forms for some of my parents/carers for their working tax credits/council tax forms returns. We are open during the term time and operate a Holiday Club subject to number of children booking in. NEG covers the term time fees but as explained can only open for holiday club if numbers cover rent/wages, this is always explained to parents/carers and is in our prospectus. I have recently filled in forms for a number of parents/carers stating that for 39 weeks of the year they pay x amount but for 10 weeks of the year they will have to pay the normal fees. On placing the format on the parental notice board for Holiday Club- I noticed that some…

can anyone help! I am having my first stay and play -for 0-4 on Wednesday in my Nursery classroom, but have been told today that I am on a course in the mroning, so I will have about half an hour to set up when I get back. Has anyone got any ideas for how I can set up quickly/ prepare stuff the night before, bearing in mind that I won't be in the Nursery in the morning, DHT will and has asked me to leave something "easy and not messy" for the children to do. All help gratefully received!!!!!! Thanks.
