Hi All, I am currently in the process of recruiting for a new nursery and I have had a super lady apply but I am not sure she has appropriate qualifications.. She is a registered children's nurse and has spent many years working in neonatal intensive care, paediatric intensive care and as a school nurse. Prior to her nursing career she did the first year of her childcare qualification at the local college but did not finish or qualify as she got a place on the nursing degree course. I have tried the qualifications checker and it does not find her nursing qualification. I thought she would be a great fit in my baby room and I hope someone on the forum can help with…

I was just wondering, well pondering, if any nurseries are VAT registered? If so then how did you manage it? From Gov Website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-exemption-and-partial-exemption Some goods and services are exempt from VAT. If all of the goods and services you sell are exempt, your business is exempt and you won’t be able to register for VAT. This means you can’t reclaim any VAT on your business purchases or expenses. It mentions "ALL of the goods and services" So, if we sold something that was not except.. we could then become VAT registered?? What would this something be???

Hi everyone, Would appreciate if anyone was willing to share their salary brackets for staff at different levels(Deputy/ Room Leader/ Nursery Nurse). I am just reviewing our staff salaries and recruiting so want to try and ensure our staff are paid fairly. It seems new staff are coming in with expected high salaries. Thank you.

Hello all We have had two members of staff resign within weeks of each other. They have both given reasons such as new jobs and wanting to move on but I feel maybe there are underlying issues too, they have worked there many many years. Has anyone carried out exit interviews or exit forms for staff. Is there anything we should cover? Thanks Claire

We haven't had to close yet for any reason, but a parent did ask me if they would have to pay if we were shut due to the weather. What does everyone else do? TIA

Interested to know how others work out term time staff pay. I have a member of staff starting next week. She will be working 31 hours per week, 38 weeks per year on £8.00 hour. I will spread her payments out over the months so will have a annual figure divided by 12 equal payments. I have the figure £10,564.80 divided by 12 = £880.40 a month. Anyone with a different figure?

Hi all, I am looking for some advice on how I can encourage the team to understand expectations and the reasons behind my theories and madness?? I often feel that the team don't get me and therefore there are frustrations and problems. Any thoughts would be great as I would like the team to work with me, but understand my ethos and expectations too. Thanks

Is this the way to go? Inspired by a comment made by Panders in the 2017 thread - I have carried out a little research this morning (well any excuse to delay actually getting on with my TDL) Think I like the idea - any tips for me? I'm slightly concerned that I might just spent ages adding data to a bullet journal and even less actually completing any tasks......... Would be the perfect excuse reason to invest in a lovely new notebook and coloured pens  ::1a
