Hi All If you are open both morning and afternoon and have a lunch club, are you then classed as full day care? Does the club work on a first come first serve? Obviously you could not have both am and pm sessions together (can you imagine 52 children for lunch every day.) Does anyone provide the am session with breakfast club and the pm session with lunch club? I'm just doing a little forward planning for when we offer the children 3 hour sessions. Thanks Lou

Our feeder playschool is having an 'open afternoon' for the first time and feel a bit unsure about what kind of format it might take. Does anyone have any suggestions that I might be able to pass onto them? They've had a bit of a knock back with a recent Ofsted (paperwork issues) and it would be lovely for them to have a successful 'first time' venture to restore a bit of self esteem. Many thanks for any help you may be able to offer. luluj

Hi I wondered if i could ask if there is anybody out there who has stopped having a committee at their pre-school. We are committee run and every year we have the same problems, i just wondered what the options are - whether you can go without a committee and how you go about it - plus where do you find that information?

Child's Unofficial Change Of Name
by Guest- 11 replies

The parents of one of our children split up a few months ago in acrimonious circumstances. They weren't married but the 4 year old has his father's surname. Now, because the father won't acknowledge the older child as his [and he isn't] the mother wants the younger child to be known by her surname in future. This child is on Early Years Action so there are quite a lot of reports etc with his name on. He starts school in September so we are looking at transition issues, too. I don't think I've actually dealt with a situation like this before so I'm not sure of all the necessary steps. We have asked the mother to put her request in writing [difficult because her literac…

Prospectus

Hi, We are in the process of updating our Pre-school Prospectus. At present it just has an introduction about us, fees, uniform knowledge, CP and settling in policy, really not enough. We are committee run, so it needs to be cheap and photocopiable, did think about having a printed sleeve which might then look more professional and then put the photocopies inside Would any mind sharing any information about their prospectus or be willing to give me any examples. I do need to get this right, having a meeting with the committee next week, so need it all ready for their OK. Thank you

New Male Nursery Assistant
by Guest- 19 replies

I'm so please we finally have a male nursery assistant. We have had numerous positive comments from parents, especially the ones with absent male figures in their families. He's been with us for the past few months on a part-time basis from one to three days a week. As with any new assistant, he was not asked to carryout any personal care when he first started as a new staff member doesn't know the children and like wise, the children are not comfortable with them. He has now settled in and I have just carried out his three month job chat to see how things are going and to set the way forward. During this chat we got to the issue of taking children to the t…

Hi every one I'm sure every one has heard me moan before about the problems I'm having with the church and our buildings. Well the week before christmas and we have hit rock bottome. The cold weather has made it so cold and the church has only allowed us extra heating for this week so come January if its cold we won't be able to open. The hall where we are is only 13 degrees at most and we have checked with Environmental Health and it should be minimum of 16 degrees mor like 18/20 for small children. as there is no where for us to go that will accmodate all 70+ children we will beforced to shut. So I have a day of battles to try and stay open for all the children,. …
