Hello we went on an outing today, did a very in depth risk assessment - everything covered! and all went fantastic until half an hour before our return coach journey everyone sat down for lunch and a little girl fell off of the seating bench! She cried but seemed to settle and once on the coach her arm started swelling so we phoned mum and met her at the hospital . We havent had to deal with anything like this before we have an accident book but am suspecting we have to do more! Riddor? Health and safety exec? Would this be recorded on an incident form, does anyone have one they can show me? Perhaps someone would tell me their process please? Thank…

What is your fee structure in hours? i.e. our current fees break down to be £2.30 per hour for over 3's but what are yours for: 0-2yrs 2-3yrs 3-8yrs over 8's we are about to have a management meeting to discuss raising our fees, but we have noticed that we are not charging more for 2-3 than 3+ even thought the ratios are halved. I really dont want to resort to pretending to be a parent and phoning around the local nurseries! Thanks in advance.

I hope I am writing in the correct area. I have been very busy last week and noticed a few senior nursery nurse vancanies going. I have sort of applied for a couple of them one of which I am awaiting a telephone call back of an agency who I am registered with. Please can you help me to understand what the role entails? I know what a deputy and manager role entails (I have a CDROM contianing information) but there seem to be nothing regarding this role on the internet. Thanks in advance. Beth

Hi all I thought I would update you all on my journey to open my own preschool and thank you all for your help and support. I am afraid I have had a change of heart after speaking to my development officer and considering the time and financial implications i have decided not to carry on. But great new I have been offered a Job Managing an early years setting in a school so I can follow my vision with out the risk. The setting is lovely, so is the owner and all the staff can't wait to start. Thank you all again for all your support.

I am feeling very frustrated as I held a staff meeting last week on equal opportunities for The Bristol Standard dimension. I said that I felt that it was a strength of the setting that I valued everybody equally for contributions that they individually make. I said that I hoped that they all felt valued too. Well, there was absolute silence. I was really shocked about this as I have been making a tremendous effort to make staff feel valued. As a result of this I have decided to hand out a staff questionnaire but do not really know where to start. I am going to give everybody time in nursery time to complete it if they wish to. Has anybody used a staff questionnair…

Ajusting Part Time Staff Hours
by Guest- 2 replies

Hi I have a part time member of staff who works 5.5 hours a day, each day. Thing is we don't really need her any longer on a tuesday afternoon, but we do need her all day thursday, rather than just thursday AM. In her contract she is contracted to 27.5 hours to be worked between monday and friday. her contract does not stipulate whether it will be half days or full days. so to meet the needs of the nurery i do need to review her shift pattern, to include her working at least one full day and mybe two.she will still have her 27.5 hours a week though. how much notice do i have to give her to do this?, and about 9 months ago she was off sick with a bad back,…

I am not sure whether it was on this forum......but, I am after the thread to lead me to a discussion about what you guys get new parents to fill in about their child before they start with you, I seem to remember a lovely pamphlet idea that one setting does and I wanted to put something similar together myself, what do you think, do you recall this discussion previously?
