So... I don't really post often and am more of a lurker. can anyone advise, we have constant staff moaning and quibbles about leaving washing up in the sink. Do you have a time when one member of staff does the washing up. Obviously there are times when some mugs, spoons etc are left. Staff are now saying i'm not washing up anything I haven't used! It feels like we're in a school playground! Tia sorry if this doesn't make sense

Just wondered if anyone else is having problems with Cool Milk with regard to a need to re-register with NMRU I have very nearly reached the end of my tether  I responded to an email request from Cool Milk to re-register towards the end of September - would just say that i did this on the day that their request hit my inbox. I did wonder if all had been successful - it appeared so apart from the fact that I didn't get any sort of confirmation from NMRU Following that I have had, almost daily, emails from Cool Milk requesting that I re-register - I have replied to each and every email promptly.......these emails have become increasingly 'threatening' - …

Hi Everyone, At present we open 24 hours a week (term time only) and from January 2017 we are thinking about opening for 30 hours a week (term time only). We have just had an amazing first time Ofsted inspection and couldn't wish for a better outcome. Does any one know if we increase to 30 hours if we will be re inspected. I am unsure what the cut off hours are for us to turn into a nursery instead of a pre-school. We have e-mailed Ofsted to ask but as yet they have not yet responded with an answer on what we have to do to make this happen. At present we don't want to inform parents until the finer details have been secured but as January is not far away we need to do…

Have any of you taken a new employee and accepted their DBS from another setting when they have signed up to the update service? I have just received a DBS as a school volunteer when I queried about the update service they said don't bother if i get a job in another school or indeed that school I would need to get another one. In a quandary whether to sign up or not?!

Hello, trying all day to find an overview handout that gives the key points for staff about Prevent Duty with not a lot of luck. I have given out the official guidance and they are doing online training but I want a simple sheet with the key points and was hoping one of you lovely people may be able to save me some weekend and know where to look? HH

Is any one having problems with DBS taking forever. To cut a long story short I applied for a new DBS in July. I am still waiting 80 days later. Apparently it is with metropolitan police who have huge back logs. Why are they taking more if they can't cope. Waiting patiently to start a new job Buttercup

Hi all. I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm just going to give it a go a see! I was wondering if anyone could help with a couple of questions; 1) How often do we need to be doing supervision and what sort of formats settings are using / recommend? 2) We do our appraisals once a year, is this enough? and can anyone recommend a good format? Many thanks :-)

Can anyone direct me to where in the EYFS it states a preschool/nursery has to have a minimum of 2 people on site at all times - I have read and re-read but cannot see it - in ratios it repeats a minimum of one person for 4 children etc. I agree good practice would be to have 2 people but just wanted to find it in black and white. Childminders can be on their own, what is the difference?
