Give Me Strength

OK all, I need some foolproof, effective ways, to tackle my deputy and senior. I have had a few days of recently due to annual leave, and on my return i hear that my deputy 'apparently' left the children unattended in her room (not seen by myself or anyone else, but deputy was heard to shout back to children "im coming" and then her footsteps heard) My senior has been blowing hot and cold with certain staff, and treating a few like s**t. When i am off my office gets snooped in, and i mean snooped, and i get called all names under the sun. Now i can live with them calling me behind my back, because quite frankly they mean nothing to me, they are not my frie…

Hello everyone i need a little advice. I work as the preschool room manager in a full day care nursery. I have had this week off but had to go back in to cover the managers day off on friday. When i went into my room i found two of my staff had taken down one of my permenant displays and replaced it and also taken down two changable displays and replaced the with two display with very very little work on them. I really don't mind them doing displays as it is good for them to have their own mark on the room but we have only passed our ofsted a while ago and these are so bad that they could to even be added to . This has put the other staff's noses out of place and the t…

Today I found out that the Government are proposing to increase holiday entitlements from 20 to 28 days for someone working a 5 day week, phasing it in as 24 days from 1 October 2007 and the remainder from 1 October 2008. See www.dti.gov.uk/employment/holidays/index.html for further info and details on consultation responses. I am a bear of very little brain but I am concerned that the Nursery Education Funding will not be increased to take account of this and for groups like mine (small voluntary sessional pre-school) this could well be the final nail in the coffin. Comments please - hopefully you lot will understand the implications of this better than me!

Hi this is my first topic on this forum. I have replied to other peoples and constantly browse looking for solutions to problems but have never actually needed to ask you all for advice until today. I have had a really awful day as i had to tell my nursery assistant her fixed term contract would not be renewed due to financial constraints. She was really upset( which made me feel really crap) and told me she wouldn't be in on monday. She said she had felt used while A senior Nursery Nurse was on maternity leave, although her role was to support staff in the baby room a completely different role to my SNN. I reassured her this was not the case that it was th…

hello everyone, i am interviewing for staff at the moment, one potential candidate informed me during interview when i asked about level of sickness, (because i have had problems still does with a particular staff calling in sick every month, ) that she is epilectic, only when she sleeps, and only occurs when she is stressed and would need to take a day off afterwards because it sapps her energy she is also allowed to drive. i know i should not discriminate, but i am worried about her having fits at work, especially as the post is in the baby room, just recently witness a baby had a fit and it was quite frigtening, she also does not want other staff to know. …
