Hi everyone - just wondering if anyone uses this program in their setting and, if so, what thoughts do you have about it? Would love to get into a discussion about it but will hangfire with my own thoughts until I see what interest there is! Look forward to hearing from you...

What Do You Think?

I would love to hear some views on what my manager is planning to do at our setting in September: My supervisor is leaving and my manager (works at another site) doesn't want to advertise or bring anyone new in to lead the nursery, she is suggesting that we (myself and three other collegues all level 3) run the setting on a duty manager basis?? She is saying that a key worker system will ensure that parents will have a contact with staff and a planning should be done together?!(She has not offered to pay us at any higher rate?) I can see that it could work but I feel that we need a LEADER, don't you think? The parents and children all look to the present leader and al…

Inventories

Hi everyone We all went in today to do our clean up before the children come back and I decided today would be a good time to do an inventory as all of our toys were out. I have put one together but I have just looked on the web at another pre-schools one and they listed in detail absolutely everything down to pictures on the wall and things like that. Is this necessary and will anyone ever need to see this inventory. I have never done one before as detailed as this and just wondered how necessary one was Thanks Debs

Mission Statement And Aims
by Guest- 1 reply

I know that there have been posts on this before - in fact I may even have been the one to start one of them! I have set aside a staff meeting to start working on the mission statement and aims for our nursery. I can't believe this was never done in the 2 weeks when the staff were employed before the nursery opened 2 1/2 years ago. On the other hand, that may be a good thing, because heaven knows what the mission statement would have been (!!). Anyway, in my mind I know what I want the mission statement and aims to be, but having done loads of reading around the subject, I know that it is not going to be effective if I suddenly produce a piece of paper with them …

What a start to the new year Went back to Nursery today to find;- Member of staff started before christmas wrote me a letter to say due to personal reasons wont be returning. Another member of staff has decided to leave due to her childs poor health. Another member of staff decided its time for a change she feels she has done all she can do in childcare- worked with me for 3 years and completed her training last year!! Just an excuse for a change I think. What a morning new year resolution of no chocolate out of the window by 10am! They say its nothing to do with the Nursery I suppose thats one good thing! The only good news I had today is that my Deputy M…

HI I want to be able to go into nursery in the new year with a fresh and more constructive approach to nursery. I am 6 months into managing the place now and all is going okay, i have imputed some changes, and they have in the main gone well. BUt i am still aware of the bitching that goes on, and the fact that my senior in particular feels she has no defined responsabilities...... these issues have been on my ever increasing 'to do' list, but in january i want to try and start a fresh and build a constructive, and productive working relationship with my deputy and senior, and roll that through to all other staff. so far i have thought that: I can give senior …

HI advice needed please.... we have our toddler room and tweenie room next to each other, divided by a middle door (betwwen the rooms) and a little window was also between the two rooms. The problem with this was that the staff in tweenie room (both senior) would stare through the window into toddler room, watch the staff etc (and the other day they even had children stood on chairs looking through the window into toddler room!!!). Tweenie room staff just bitch about staff in toddlers, and glare at toddler staff through the window.... toddler staff were understandably finding it annoying and a bit intimidating. so they asked me if they could put a display up o…
