Hi We need to advertise for someone to support a child with mobility needs and developmental delay to start in Janaury. Portage worker told us to contact Child Information Service for help on wording of advert, job description and person specification - phoned them they suggested I contact ACAS ! and are sending me a leaflet on how to write one. Portage worker on holiday as am I!! Previously with recruitment, we have been able to contact our local YMCA who have taken us by the hand and guided us through the whole process, alas they lost their contract this year. The last time we employed a support worker was some years ago and things have changed, and I don'…

Has anyone successfully applied for and received any Transformation Fund monies yet? I have applied for it after recuiting my graduate but so far no money arriving so I cannot get this Quality Premium into operation. Just wondering if anyone has been successful in getting it and has it made a difference to their setting. How are your graduates doing in the settings and how are other staff feeling about it?

Hi as Many of you know i have issues with my staff. some that clearly need to directed personally to the staff concerned, but some issues that are a whole nursery issue (ie general moans and groans!) ~ normally i address these moans and groans at the start of staff meetings (monthly!) but to be honest im quite frankly getting annoyed at spending precious staff meeting time on the same moans and groans. We have a staff meeting on wednesday and i wanted to give the staff time to update their development profiles and to not sit and discuss moans..... the moans im talking about are general moans, ie.. could staff make sure they do their jobs on the cleaning ro…

Action Plans

How many things/actions does your setting work on at once? We have so many things that need developing, that I am finding it hard to prioritise. Do you have 1 action that you agree to have completed by a certain time, before you set another one? Do you have any ongoing actions that take longer?

Bank Staff
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi I was just wondering whether you all have a supply of bank staff and if so, are they qualified? We have never had a problem fainding someone willing to be called upon with short notice to work (and be paid) for a session. But our accreditation seems to point towards the fact that bank staff should be qualified. And I do agree with this, but how do we encourage mums who in effect are helping us out, to become qualified on the off chance that they may be needed because someone is off sick or an a training course? Many thanks

HI Our nursery is one of four chains, and one of them needs a deputy (i did offer mine but they declined!, dammm can't sell my Deputy LOL ) they are interviewing a week on monday, and have asked me to sit on in the interview so that i am unbiased as the other manager knows the people going for the job!. Anyway the other manager asked me if i could think of some questions to ask the candidates. so if you were interviewing for a deputy what would you be asking? P.s the nursery is a 30 place nursery, open all year round, with a staff team of 8 ~ if that helps any? Thanks in anticipation Dawn

Hi guys, I have just been told that I am going for an interive for a deputy preschool manager postion I have the Job spec and description but I would also like to find out what they really do, and what type of questions they will ask me. On the basis that every interview I have been to recently has asked varied questions and now my minds gone a bit foggy!! I would just like a real person to discribe what they do in this role. seeing it on paper is just not the same as someone discriping the role. Thanks in advance Beth
