Suddenly had a panic attack today - because I have a new phone........didn't recognise the ringtone (twice) and missed 2 calls! What if it had been 'The Call'? Which made me think, when Ofsted call to notify you of an inspection - what number do they use? Is it inspectors personal phone or is it an obvious Ofsted number and if so Which One??? I want to load in my NEW PHONE so I can tell if it's them I've left hanging! Anyone had such a call yet?... Thanks in anticipation.

Hi everyone, I thought I would share this with you. It is a free on-line course on the Prevent Duty, recommended to us by our Early Years Improvement Officer. It can be done in addition to the other courses that you may have accessed already and may be useful for committee members to do too. It takes 45 minutes and can be found on - elearning.prevent.homeoffice.gov.uk you need to type in your region and type of setting, ie a school or early years. Hope you find it useful. Lucy

As if there appalling cuts on staff, rise in cost of courses and total lack of support was not enough Worcestershire County Council have now stopped their subscription to FSF - I am guttted - there is no way I can do without all your support and as for Tapestry it is so popular with staff and parents I couldn't possibly stop having it. Yet another cost to add to the increasing number of costs with no increase in funding - when will it stop??

Dear all, Can anyone tell me whether all members of staff need this training to serve snacks? We have so far trained everyone but the team is growing and this can become quite expensive. Please highlight any document where I can find this information clarified Many thanks for now

Does anyone have a contact phone number for the charity commission? The only one I can find is the 669197 one, and that's for technical help. That's not what I need - I need to speak with someone about a different problem. It's not whistleblowing or reporting, and those are the only other contact bits I can find. Can you actually phone them anymore!

Dear all I think I must have dreamt it as I can not find it anywhere in Ofsted documents so I have come to the experts. If you are recruiting a new member of staff do they have to agree to sign up for the update service? I know child-minders have to but in the back of my mind I am sure I read they were starting it for new nursery staff and as time would go on this would mean all nursery staff would be on the update service. It could possibly be something that has been suggested by the powers that be and never happened??? Sheila

Hi has anyone applied for any grants or funding to enhance their setting? I.e. To replace a playground or buy IT equipment like iPads? I just wondered if there is such a thing? I've been told about the lottery funding. Thanks

Hello everyone I'm just looking for some advice as our local authority have just referred me back to the EYFS. We are a preschool setting who are open termly. Generally we take new starters only at the beginning of term but occasionally after half terms. We want to offer a morning place to a 2 year old after half term. Currently we have a fee paying child who has just turned 3 in early October. As this child is now 3 can I now include him in my 3 year old ratios or do I have to include him in the 2 year old ratios until the following term (January 2017) when he will be a funded 3 year year old? If I treat this newly turned 3 year old as 3 now I can take in th…

Hi I run a small privately owned pre-school, some of my staff have started hinting that they should have the flu vaccine has they are always catching colds this time of year.... and that it should be paid for by me. Is there a law that states employers should pay for this? or is it up to the individual to pay if they want one? This could work out to be quite expensive if its down to me to pay! I would like to hear what you all do or think about this. Thanks Maggspp
