Staff Meetings

Hi, Thursday was our first staff meeting for ages. I have a nightmare organising them because of staffs childcare needs. We operate in shared premises and can only access the building on Thursdays after work (4pm) for meetings but this is difficult because if the staff's children stay they are just too tired and disruptive, and it's not fair on them or the staff. Also staff have other family needs at this time. Anyway we managed this week with 4 staff making childcare arrangements and 1 staff who's child came along ( and behaved very well). The staff have said a lot, recently "We need a staff meeting" So I opened the meeting with the question when is t…

She has been at the nursery for ever and everything she did was right (although i am not quite sure what she did ) Does anyone have any examples of job descriptions / person specifications? Does the cook need to be qualified? Any help on this matter will help, i am due to send out application forms tomorrow morning to prospective employees, but need some literature to accompany them. Many Thanks

Some help from you lot, please! Today, in the toilets, I'd asked (very nicely) for the Committee's Treasurer to let me deal with the boys in there. She was OK about it (clearly, the rule - instituted when I was on Committee, years ago - is that only cleared staff may supervise children in the toilets; even approved childminders, as the secretary is, are not allowed to be alone with the group's children). Anyway, she said, in passing, that Committee now have to have enhanced CRB disclosures. She was quite forthcoming about this, but didn't have any idea where this dictat originated, and whether it applies to all Committee members (or just those who are Officers, i.e…

Can anyone help me find some information about suitable materials to use in a Disabled Toilet. Our builder who is doing the renovation is insisting on using painted ply wood to box in the cistern - I want melamine or something similar but cannot find anything to show him to back me up. I know all surfaces should be smooth and waterproof and surfaces easy to keep clean but I cannot find anything to say what they should be made of. Do you have anything on paper or know where I can find such information. You would think as we were paying him we should be consulted.

Hi I am new to this forum and have just registered, so please bear with me while I familiarise myself with it. I have recently been offered the position of FSC (while working as Nursery Manager) by my headmaster, which I start at Easter. I work in a small independent school where the new head wants to strengthen the links between the FS, KS1 & KS2. At the moment the Nursery 'functions' seperately from Reception, although the 2 rooms are relatively close together. I am keen to develop a FS unit and implement many changes. I have been asked to write my own job description as FSC and I need some advice with this. Does anybody know of any online resourc…

I have a member of staff who has a personal hygiene problem After many comments from parents and staff the manager took her to one side and sensitively informed her that she had a body odour problem. The member of staff in question walks a fair distance to work so it was suggested she may like to store fresh clothes at nursery to change into. Although a little upset the member of staff was glad she had been informed. Now... this was before Christmas and the member of staff still smells as bad, the manager approached her today to find out how come it hadn't got better and the member of staff was quite upset as she says she washes herself and her clothes and brush…

Does anyone have any good ideas of how to give out information to parents in sessional/fullday care? At the moment any letters to parents go into the child's individual tray but we have no way of knowing whether parents have received the letter bar checking every tray. Also how do people encourage staff to interact with parents on a daily basis? Any ideas would be appreciated!
