Hi, just wondering if other settings are asked by parents for copies of invoices often stretching back several years for tax credit purposes? Do you provide them? Thanks Jo

I got sent some picture messages from a parent tonight of marks on her child's arms. I can't see clearly but they look like either bruises or scratches. We have been monitoring this little lad lately because he has been exhibiting some rather challenging and aggressive behaviour. Two events happened today that may have caused the marks depending on what they are - firstly there was a altercation with another child in the garden, but said child was laughing and did not appear upset. Secondly the child was throwing toys at an adult and then came and hit me with the hard end of a paintbrush. I led him to the edge of the garden for some thinking time and he flung h…

We've got interviews coming up soon, and I'm fairly happy with the questions we ask, as we improve them each time to get a better idea of the interviewee, including adding in "Do you have anything booked that could impact on being here?" (after someone taken on for maternity leave cover announced they'd booked a 2 week holiday in term time, thinking they wouldn't still be with us by then...!) We ask the interviewees to come for a formal interviw (using the same questions for each interviewee so we can score them fairly) and a short activity, usually choosing, bringing and sharing a story with a small group of 3 year olds. When all the applicants said they were experi…

I am a leader, child protection officer, behaviour manager (you name it and I do it) and have just had a new child start with me. I have today been invited to a Child In Need meeting at his house with mum and his social worker. First things first, I have never done one of these so do I need to take anything with me, have any sort of report prepared or what? Also, do I let my CP officer on my committee know what is happening along with my Chair. My CP officer no longer has a child with me but has stayed on as she has never been called upon to do anything or do I just let my Chair know what is happening? As you can tell I don't really know what I am doing in t…

Hi I have used the forum in the past and found it invaluable. For some reason subscription slipped! However, when recently battling through compliance issues, thought the forum would again be a good place to find support. My problem! In our Early Years (Kindergarten and Reception) department we currently have one class teacher and four level 3 practitioners. Two of the level 3's have qualifications that relate to 'education' and not specifically Early Years. is this a problem. Are we compliant? If it is a problem, is it sufficient for us to build their portfolio of Early Years training with specific course such as an observation and assessment cours…
