Dear all, I am wondering if people out there use any invoicing software such as Xero, QB or express invoicing to create invoices? We are one part of 2 nurseries, so we need a good solution that helps us to get rid of all the hours it takes to do manual invoices. We charge by hours, sessions, days, lunches etc. thank you, your help will be mostly appreciated.

We are a small preschool which lives in a portacabin in a primary school grounds. We get our gas, electricity, water and phone lines from the school supply. Over the bank holiday we lost the electricity supply to our building which resulted in us not been able to run any sessions today as we have no lights, heat or hot water. Now it looks like this could continue for the rest of the week at least as the workmen will need to dig up the cable, find the fault and repair it etc. The school have kindly offered us the use of a modular building on the school site which is a big room with a kitchen and toilets. We have risk assessed the building today and we could make it wor…

Do you put a time limit on how long you will hold a place for someone once they have paid a deposit? We never have, however, I have a situation where a child was due to start in the Spring term and they then requested if they could put her place back to the start of the summer term, we said fine, but then at the start of the summer term they said that due to problems with the other nursery they couldn't start yet. I have no idea what the problem is and I went back and said that was fine, but did they have any idea when they may want the child to start, as if it wasn't until September we have several people on our waiting list who could take the place this term. I ha…

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on how we can make our staff totals simpler. We run breakfast club, preschool, lunch club, Preschool and after school club with about 73 children on roll. We have 2 admin staff, 7 childcare staff including me as setting manager all working different hours and shifts. We have a Rota and room Rota, but I spend so much time checking ratios against staff, changing lunches because sickness or days off and it takes up so much of my time. I am finding it too mush to sort out. Any solutions or ideas - what do you all do???

LINK TO PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE FROM 20th APRIL It was a decent debate but i feel we didn't really get an answer to the funding increase question though! Did anybody else get the feeling that Chris Wormald believes the rates are ok at the moment?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-36114767 Am I reading this wrong or is this article saying that from September we can no longer employ a Nursery Practitioner without them having GCSE Maths and English? I thought this was being introduced for the Early Years Educator Course, not existing qualified staff.
