Hi all I have been searching for a room leader for a while now and have had surprisingly little luck. We haven't even been getting many 'bad' cv's let a lone someone getting through to interview stage. Salary is very competitive. I wonder if anyone else has been struggling as well. Thanks Tina

looking at the news this morning, its likely that there will be a another 4 weeks of Covid restrictions, we were planning on having a presentation for our leavers inviting 2 adults for each child, I think I am right in saying we can only have 30 adults outside at a gathering??? what are others thinking of doing for their leavers? the tea party planned for the children does not involve parents. Last year we had to do a drive by event, luckily we have a large car part that they could drive in and out of so we could wave goodbye, we created placards and decorated but it was so sad that we did not get to really celebrate.

Hi all! hope you can help! In our LA, we are required to complete a transition document, set out by the Early years team, one each for every child going to school. It is usually 3 pages long and takes up quite a bit of time for the practitioners to complete as well as then trying to get parents to comment and sign and then we need to deliver to all the different schools, getting them to sign to say they have received them (all in all a very time consuming exercise) and we are getting quite aware that the schools don't seem to be interested in them. We also feel that some of the info on them is not really needed and we manage to pass more relevant info on to the schoo…

So i am looking forward (for the first time in a year) to planning September and our curriculum. How is everyone feeling about the changes? what are you planning to do differently? how are you feeling about it? (personally i think after the year we have had change seems to be overwhelming me) How do people feel about the emphasis on problems and issues, areas of concerns etc, oral hygiene and working with health visitors?!?!?!

Hi everyone. I hope you have had or are still enjoying depending on where you live, a lovely Easter. I'm looking into the possibility of investing in some transportation for our youngest so that we can go further afield so either buggies for multiple children (either 3 or 4 children) or possibly a larger pushalong cart. They are expensive... Do any of you have experience of using /owning these and would you recommend? For example, can you actually push any of these with ease or do you need to be very strong?!🙄 Appreciate any input, thank you x

Hi - We have had a cull of our outside equip. recently and are looking at purchasing some new ride ons/ first trikes etc for our youngest children so suitable from about 15 months plus. What do you have at your setting? We don't have a large budget but hoping to purchase a few additions rather than one pricey item. Can anyone recommend anything that seems value for money without breaking after a few uses ?! Would also be interested if you think not to bother and invest in more expensive items, what would you recommend purchasing instead? Thank you

Hi I have been approached by a school nursery and offered the job of manager. I last managed a committee run preschool 6 years ago and am feeling a bit rusty ! Can any of you lovely people suggest any good reads so that i can brush up please. I remained in education in my time out and have always paid a keen interest in early years but feel i need to do a bit of swotting up. Many thanks

Hi there, Does anyone know if Tapestry have plans to add functionality such as registers and allocation management, maybe even invoicing? I really like Tapestry and have invested a lot of time into making it work in our setting, but realistically it just doesn't do everything that I need it to. Thanks

In this podcast you can hear us in conversation with Jo Caswell, an early years consultant, day nursery manager, local authority advisor and Ofsted inspector. She now runs her own consultancy ‘JLC Early Years Consultancy’, hoping to drive improvement in the early years settings she visits. We spoke about how to get your practice and provision to support every child, as well as the qualities and approaches of the most effective leaders. I hope you find it helpful. 😊

Hi - does anyone know if I can pay my staff SSP for the days they couldn't work as we had to close due to a child testing positive for Covid? I've looked it up and it's not completely clear (to me anyway) as it mentions households and Track and trace etc. Thank you
