Hello all! I have had two new staff members start this week, both of them are on a probation period and we have went through an induction with them on Monday. Both staff are in the process of reading through our policies and procedures. A bit like a ticky list for example; hand washing process and whether theyve observed this first and then carried it out with the children. As I am not in the room I just want to ensure they are shown ev…

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice again from you knowledgeable folk. As setting manager I am looking to delegate more to my preschool deputy and was wondering what you all delegate? We are working on moderating observations and assessments together, which is brilliant, but what else do you delegate? Some advice would be great. Thank you

Do settings follow a routine when children sleep at nursery? Do children all sleep at the same time normally after lunch or do they sleep as and when they would like throughout the day? Do children have sleep limits if the parents wish? Do you 'pat' the children off to sleep?

Hi all, apologies for the VERY long post but in need of some quick advice!! I posted a couple of weeks ago about my member of staff (there is only the 2 of us and our volunteer). She has worked with me since we opened in sept 2011. We have recently moved premises due to lack of children and I had to cut her hours down in September. Her work has declined since this. She has said she is looking for a new job. She then received a final written warning a few weeks ago due to breaching confidentiality. She had an attitude during this meeting but said ok and she would work on things. Over the past couple of weeks things have got worse, these are just a few examples-…
