Dear all, We ordered milk from local farm shop at our nursery. We are looking to change the process to order it from the supermarket now to reduce costs. I was wondering if I can claim money back for milk from the council/government and if so, is the process trivial? Thank you in advance.

Hi all, When i took over the nursery 18 months ago, the morning snack consisted of toast or cereal with a couple of slices of banana. Although on the menu it was described as snack, both staff and parents were in the habit of calling it breakfast. I have gradually got staff to stop calling it breakfast and reduced the amount of toast/cereal and increased the amount of fruit. Last week i added a note to the newsletter letting the parents know that we are stopping the toast/cereal and increasing the range of fruit/veg we will provide for the morning snack. I also reminded parents that the tea was only a light tea, not meant to replace their evening meal. (it has always bee…

Hey everybody i wanted to be even more intrusive into our Nursery Businesses and i hope some of you can help again With the success of our last survey regarding nursery funding amounts and how i am hoping it might have actually helped highlight the different amounts per LA, i was hoping to now gather information regarding staff wages per area. Even though the cost of living is higher in certain areas of the country we do still have a National Minimum Wage and soon to be Living Wage come April!! HELP!! If you don't want to be specific as adding the amounts below, please just include a few sentences about how the National Living Wage will effect you in April 2016. …

Most of our local school nurseries work where the 15 hours funding is 5 mornings a week for 3 hours for 3&4yr old funded children only - this is run by a Qualified teacher plus TA/nursery nurse. Once that 3 hours is up wraparound kicks in for those that need it - this is run by level 3 TA's/nursery nurses. If the wraparound sessions aren't full with morning children then any child once 3 can attend and pay (or use funding once available) My question is IF the 30hrs comes in will school nursery HAVE to have a qualified teacher in place all day? Also I'm thinking that IF the 30hrs comes in then I can imagine most children will take it and therefore there won't…

Hello, To all the managers out there, how do you get support or mentoring for your role?? I have had a lot of staff issues over the last two years, which have really highlighted my lack of skills and knowledge as a manager. My staff are becoming closer and I am on the outside. How do you know that you are right to continue with what you are doing?? And where do you get your training and knowledge from? I am level 6, but this isn't enough in management!!!! Thanks

OK. So this has been bugging me for a while. A local Nursery has kept its outstanding ofsted icon/logo and report from 2011 on its website even though it now has a 2015 Good rating. It does not have the up to date report anywhere so it looks like it is an outstanding setting. Would you inform Ofsted?

Hi all, Looking for some advise, I have a member of staff that's been at my packaway preschool for 20 years, and she's completely not interested in her job, she spent this morning cleaning out the fridge. She plays games with the team e.g this term its me the leader she doesn't talk too, unless totally necessary. I inherited this behaviour and she had been a lot better and more proactive until she found out I was pregnant and going on mat leave. I've only got until DEC then I'm off for 9 months and she is meant to be one of my deputies! Any ideas? Any help greatly recieved
