HELP!! My wonderful administrator is leaving to take up full time hours at her bank, she is so much more than just my administrator, she is my friend, my rock and a constant support. I am already snowed under as manager, key person, SENCO and leading an inexperienced staff and now I am taking on her duties. Does anyone use a software package in their pre-school setting? I would love to hear what it is, what it can do and is is worth it? Love any feedback please as thinking about buying a package but not sure which one.

New Staff DBS

Hi I know I should know this, but I'm having a rough time at the moment and my brain is mush, so I know you lovely people will help...! I have a lady I want to take on as bank staff. She has a DBS as she helps out at her child's school. Do I need to get her a new one done for us? She looked clueless when I asked if she was signed up to the update service, so I'm guessing she's not. Thank you :1b

Hello, do any of you outsource your personnel to save committee members being involved? If so who do you use and if not how do you manage? Thanks

The link below is for the government consultation on the proposed requirement for all newly qualified staff (level 2 and 3) to hold a paediatric first aid certificate before being counted in ratios. This was launched yesterday and the closing date is 10th December. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/paediatric-first-aid-eyfs-statutory-framework-amendments

Hi - this is quite a tricky one to get down but I'm interested in hearing how other managers would handle this one! It's kind of in two parts... I have a two year old here who has a really sore nappy area. We use mum's provided wipes (with aloe vera) as mum believes these help. Mum has brought up on at least 6 occasions (and very rudely) that when her daughter came home the nappy was dirty (as in, smudged - not full - as though she hadn't been wiped properly.) After the first time I re-trained all staff on nappy changing procedures and set up a 'buddy system' so the team helped each other out even though it's normally the key-person who changes her nappy. It appe…

In case anyone wants respond.Just off for a look. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/paediatric-first-aid-eyfs-statutory-framework-amendments I'm not liking the the question about a 3 month grace period for newly qualified staff to become trained following employment - that will just put the cost on to the employer rather than it being part of the L2/L3 training.

Terminating a parents contract
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi All, We are considering doing something we usually don't do and that is terminate a child's contract. We have a child that started with us in September. The child has additional needs and we have put lots of support in place for her without any additional funding. The child has actually started to make progress, which is amazing to see. However we have huge problems with the parent who doesn't realise their are issues with her child's development. She complains to my staff and is very aggressive every day and her complaints do not make any sense. For example: On Monday she says: When she gets wet, she gets chest infection immediately, so she mustn't g…

Hi When tracking children and looking at progress do you compare to where they were when they started with you or compare to the previous term or both? Just wondered what others do. Thanks
