Hi all We have a child due to start with us shortly and she has a severe dairy intolerance. Even the smallest crumb can cause a reaction within 20 minutes! This includes screaming, a rash all over and very runny nappies and sometimes sickness. We have never had a child with an allergy like this before and so I was wondering what we will need to do? I am assuming a full risk assessment but what about a health care plan or anything else? For snack we mostly have fruit and a biscuit which will be fine as long as we buy dairy free biscuits and offer soya milk instead of cows milk. Also cooking activities can be worked around using dairy free substitutes. …

Hi all We are in the process of moving premises for our pre-school. Our new contract states that we will need our electrical items PAT tested each year. We only use a dvd player, tablet charger and digital photo frame during the day. We also have a fridge, kettle and toaster that are used regularly. In our old premises we never had to do this as the equipment we used belonged to the village hall and they dealt with it. We have had to buy most of the items we are going to be using in the new premises (a church hall) but we will also be using their tv. Do you all get your electrical items tested? Who carries out the test? How much does it usually cost? Tha…

Hello everyone, I am after some advice on what other settings do about recording evidence. What kind of things do you record e.g. fridge/freezer temp I am new to this and I work in a preschool that only offers a snack with milk or water. we have just started a lunch-club which parents bring in a named pack lunch for their child. we store these in our fridge and we record the temp once in the morning, we are only open for 4 hours maximum. Any help on this will be appreciated. Do you have some kind of checklist for e.g. cleaning of the fridge/freezer etc do you write a commentary on how staff prepare and serve snack to the children? Many than…

Hi all...we have our Sen child going to Main stream school in September ..I and my staff have struggled with antisocial behaviour, violence,no speech, anger, the whole gammut of Autism for 2 years....with no extra staff....just a paltry amount of High Tariff Needs funding which equates to £1.34 per hour...nowhere near enough for 1-1 for him.....but now he is off to school.......you guessed it.... "individual attention is required for this child......" why was this not available to us during the formative years....we were still doing the same job trying to bring him on to enjoy school...but of course they will not be hit or kicked as we were..... I despair....
