Does anyone use this software and if so is it any good? At the moment I use instant nursery manager but am considering moving from pc to Mac, this would mean moving to cloud based instant nursery manager at £20 per month. Baby Days is cheaper and seems to offer a lot more for your money. Thanks

Have just received my certificate following recent First Aid training.........would recommend this company to anyone looking for a training provider - I'm not sure if they have nationwide reach...... Their email address is Info@mediaid.co.uk Tel:01634 540999 www.mediaid.co.uk I am not a huge fan of First Aid training but have to say I was really impressed with the trainer and the course content.....which included (and this stated on Certificate too) instruction in the use of Anaphylaxis Auto Injectors - Epipens to me - so that's very useful too...... Price for the two day (12 hour) course was £84.00 - much more favourable than the price for training of…

Hi all, I hope this is the right place for this. I am the manager at a preschool which is moving premises and changing its name over the summer so will require a registration visit. Due to various reasons, I may not be able to make the registration visit in the summer and will need my deputy to go with the company director (a volunteer as we converted from committee to company) as a result my deputy is very nervous about facing ofsted. Does anybody know what sort of thing they ask and look for when they do a registration visit so I calm her nerves about it all. thanks xx

Hi everyone, Hope everything is going well for you and you are (some of you at least) already enjoying the holidays. For us it's no rest for the wicked as we are an all year round setting I need to pick your brains as I am stuck for wording for a letter I am trying to write to parents. We are basically full day care from 8-6 and we currently offer the funding for 3 session (8-1 or 1-6) however most of our families that have children on funded places only don't work, so often drop them after 9 and collect early as well. We thought it would give our children and our setting more consistency to offer 3 hours every day. Also we had some children take their childr…

We have recently been taken over by the academy that we are in the grounds of instead of being a charity run preschool. Do we legally now have to have a qualified teacher in preschool ( I have Early Years degree and EYP status) or can we use the EYFS teachers from the foundation stage to cover that part. Unsure as to how we stand. I was under the impression that the school teacher would cover or am I wrong?

We use First Steps as a management system but I am becoming increasingly irritated with system errors causing our invoices to be incorrect (not always human error) This is largely around our funded children. Does anyone else use it and experience the same kind of difficulties?? Can anyone recommend a management software system that they are really pleased with - especially the invoicing as our parents also don't like our invoices, they find them hard to understand and I am tearing my hair out!! Help!

Hi Everyone, I wonder if you have any thoughts on this: I took over a pre-school Sept 2014 with existing staff members, we are a very small setting with only 4 members of staff and 3 bank staff. When I took on existing staff members, one member of staff holds REGISTERED GENERAL NURSE certificate, I have her certificate and this was in 1981, I was told that she was classed as a level 3 because of her qualification in nursing and the other owners have said Ofsted were happy with this. when I look at the qualification guide this is not there. I am now very confused and we don't have any money for extra staff and are already over ratio but if me or other manag…

Hi, I really hope one of you can help me with this:I currently work in a term-time only preschool. I had an interview for a reception post at a lovely near-by school and got offered the post to start in September. My contract has quite a long notice period of 8 weeks, but I gave notice yesterday, so should b free to start on 3rd September. So far so good. However when I handed in my notice, my supervisor said we would need to investigate the notice period, as it should be 8 working weeks during term time. She said even if it doesn't say so in the contract this was implied. Now my husband thinks this is rubbish. What should I do? I look forward to your replies. Poppy
