Hi I have a physio that has asked to come in and work with a child on a regular basis in a 1:1 situation ( as home is small and not a suitable environment. Some will be done in the main hall as lots more room but some in a 1;1 quiet area away from the main room). She and another physio will be coming in once per week for an hour to do exercises etc for about 10 weeks. Would you ask about DBS details to go on your central record? I did and she said she had one but had never been asked for it before. She has now referred me to her HR department to speak to them. What details do you keep on your central record for DBS? (just ant to check that I have the right thing) Any…

Now firstly my apology if your waiting lists are small or non existent! we are currently experiencing a bit of a deluge (we take from 3 counties as we are on the border!) The problem is i would really like to keep the pre-school 'community' based but we are getting a lot from outside the usual 'catchment' Do any of you use a points system or have other ways of dealing with who gets the places and in which order...struggling to work out a suitable method! we have several trustees who might not get a place if we dont sort out the problem!!!!!

Hi, I feel I may be doing the job of the committee so im looking at giving them stuff back to do as I need to delegate as its all too much. Currently we have a chair, secretary and finance officer plus other members of no title. Finance officer is paid and does books, works out wages and communicates with pay roll, organises online banking and yearly returns for accountant plus pays all bills. Secretary takes meeting notes, writes up and does charity commision submission. That's it everything else (I mean everything) is done by me, timesheets, DBS checks, organising committee, Recruitment, reference requests, organising find raising events and lots more. What does y…

Advice needed please... I have a member of staff who has a hospital appointment coming up which will leave me one two year old too many for an hour and three quarters. Would this count as limited circumstances? Do you think it would be permissible to use a volunteer as a one off - or should I look for agency cover? What do you think?

Hi all Have asked staff to complete the document and got one staff that has been banned from driving and one that is taking long term medication.I take it the first does not affect her working with children and what should I be looking for for the second one? I think I need to comment on the forms to say if the staff are still suitable? Any advice appreciated.

Hello everyone, We have recently taken over a preschool setting and I have come across data protection on a online course very recently. I understand about data protection and have a policy in place that shows how we store all paperwork and so on, however they have mentioned that you should sign up for data protection and this will cost around £40.00 a year I think, i'm just wondering what other settings do if they have joined, I cant seem to find any information on this and if we do need it or not. I am wiling to join but just need reassurance as to whether this is what is needed. Look forward to reading your reply and any other guidance that you can give me on …

Hi all As I have said in previous posts we are really low on numbers for September, having 5 on our list. We are thinking because we are in such a small village, that we would benefit from offering a pick up and drop off service but worried about the initial cost of a minibus etc. I was wondering if we got permission from parents could I use my car in the beginning until we know if a minibus is a worthy investment. What do you all think? Thanks
