Hi All, Just after some inspiration regarding welcome visits/open days for children who will be starting in September. In the past we used to contact parents from our waitlist and book in a visit for them to come into the preschool. However, this year we will be asking parents to attend an open day to come and see the pre-school. My question is if any other settings out there do an open day, do you have parents register their children for places there and then or do you allow them to take the registration forms away with them. Also we usually do our welcome talk with parents individually when parents attend a settling in session but have considered doing a group talk wit…

CIO conversion!

Early last year I posted that we would be converting to CIO. We have no jumped through all the hoops, and now awaiting transfer of funds from a savings account, so that we can finally start operating under our new charity number and URN. The process has been pretty straightforward if not rather drawn out (partly due to Ofsted changing the DBS procedure last year, so everyone had to have DBS checks done again). Has anyone converted to CIO from Unincorporated Association? One thing that is puzzling me is our policies and procedures. How on earth do we approve them for use under the new charity and URN? Do we need to approve them for use, since they are already being u…

Please can someone with 'technical' knowledge help me?! I seem to have 'lost' the zoom slider on the status bar when I open a word document on my laptop. Does anyone know how to reinstate this? Currently I have to use the zoom tab at the top and then click on zoom and manually change the percentage - it's driving me mad!

This morning I went to a TAC meeting about one of my key children. The child minder who also cares for him was there and actually said this, "I used to do that EYFS stuff but then it all changed and I haven't had time to catch up with it yet so I'm not doing any now. Maybe you could have a chat and tell what I should be doing" !! There was a Children Centre rep there as well and she was horrified. And this woman got good from Ofsted last time.

Dear all, Just want to let you know that we had our Ofsted inspection and we did fab. I'm so proud of the children, staff team and parents. It was such a different experience than our last inspection over 4 years ago. The inspector seemed to have good knowledge of early years and primary and was just really positive. It was an exciting/mentally exhausting day for everyone involved. After the initial shock everybody felt at ease and we were able to do our best on the day. But really I want to say thank you all, by reading comments and updates on this forum, I felt confident, prepared and supported. Best wishes
