I have had a really bad week this week. I have had a parent who raised an issues but before doing so took to Facebook and told other parents all about it, which meant staff all saw what mum had said and were all worried about what she has discussed. None of what she is saying is true but it's too late and I'm already losing children. staff moral is so low, I'm so frustrated. I have gone home upset all week. I just don't know what it do. This is why facebook is so wrong.

Hi Talking at networking meetings casually with other settings, I have been told that I needn't be paying for all staff absences whether for short, 1 or 2 days, or a week off. It is now becoming an issue as one member of staff is having a lot of odd days off. I pay her and also bank staff to cover. A couple of pre-schools and two big nurseries near to me say "if staff don't work they don't get paid". How do feel about this? What do you do? Also, I pay staff the official amount of holiday pay due to them but split it. I allow them 2 weeks in term time and pay them (again I have to pay bank staff to cover) and then three and a bit weeks pay - one week in Easter hols,…

Ok I have a 17 year old daughter who is interested in childcare (don't do it I said!!), I own my Pre-school and we are considering taking on an apprentice. So does anyone else have family working for them? Does it work? Would obviously like to provide her with an opportunity, and also realise I would need to possibly make some changes, for example having my deputy mentor her not me, also any supervision meetings/appraisals carried out by my deputy. What do you all think?

I have been asked to put together a school ready plan as I've been told Ofsted will want this. Has anyone else done one or know what I should include?
