I have been using a small llined note book to record any injury a child comes into Pre-school with. I record the child's name, the date, what the injury is, how it happened and the parent's signature. It is recorded on seperate pages so it is confidential. I would like to prepare a professional looking form - but finding the time is so difficult at the moment..... soooo - - - has anyone got one I could see please and thank you. Sue J

Extra Sessions

We currently open 5 mornings a week with a max 16 children per session. Time open from/to is 9am to 11.45am with optional lunch for 1 hour bringing collection time to 12.45pm We currently have 26 children on our books meaning we are full at each session with majority of the children doing 3 sessions a week. I have only 4 children that do 5 sessions a week. We have all the children in one room (A portacabin) on a school site. We would love to have a extra room, so we can take the under three's away from the over 3's and 4 year olds. Unfortunetly we have no room for extension and the school are unable to help with space too. If I had bigger premises I could …

Admissions

I was just wondering whatt other settings do regarding their admissions/waiting list? At present we have a large number of children returning to us in September and a big waiting list. In the past we have always held places open, for example we have children starting at pre-school in April/May and 4 children in June(tjhis year) Our Pre-school Learning Alliance Rep seemed astounded that we held places open for that long! What do you do? How do you organise your intakes? Throughout the whole year or one or in takes per year? Thank you in advance. jx

Pay Scales

Hi I'm looking into putting a pay structure in place dependent on the amount of time a staff member has been in a setting and experience. I thought this would also give them a reason for doing the qualifications, staff have said they complete a level 2/3, and nothing changes with regard to pay. Has anybody else done this. Not quite sure what is fair with regard to pay and how to divide it out. Also do you allow your staff keyworker time (to do their records) during the session, if so how long do they get?

Hi I know, last time I checked, that Ofsted say people collecting children from a setting must be 'responsible adults'. Does anyone know where, if anywhere, this statement is in the new EYFS? I have read the Statutory Guidance and cannot find it. Might have fallen asleep halfway through though!

Can anyone suggest how i explain to staff the reasons for not grouping children according to gender? I know we should not be doing this but have been involved in an assignment on difference and diversity but it is such a huge subject that I wondered if there was a short sweet acceptable explanation for staff who continually say "all the boys line up". Thanks x
