ok, todays challenge for you!! I'm trying to find plastic (cookie) storage jars.the sort that sit on their side (if you know what I mean!!) sort of five-sided things, and with a screw top, or pull off lid, which points forwards, rather than upwards.I need them for my small sorting/counting items, so the children can access them by themselves and i don't need to worry about them getting broken! I've tried everywhere i can think of........ebay/educational suppliers, etc, but no luck.I bet one of you can find them??

I have had some ideas on managing this but wondered if anyone had some sound advice? Thank you Jayne x

I am a childminder wotking with assistants and had been registered to care for 12 children under the ages of 5. A year ago, l had an extra child as a parent didnot realise that it was teacher's training day. She had just started a new job and had asked if l would mind the child for an hour until she got her mom to pick her up. We arranged that my daughter would take her to the park. Ofsted then arrived and slapped a compliance order against me. So afterwards in June last year l asked for a variation to look after 16 children . l was very specific that l wanted to look after 16 childrren between the ages of 6 mths to 8 years. An inspector came out and we had a long discuss…

I Need Some Advice Please

I am in the middle of getting our operational file up to date. The problem I have is that I am not sure what order to put it into. I have worked in a setting where all the policies etc. were put together at the back, planning information etc was put together , basically it was put together in the 14 standards order. I am trying to put my information under the 5 headings this time, but I am now wondering if this is the right way to do it. It seems strange splitting up the policies . Please help me make my mind up. Thank you

All children have been asked to bring a packed lunch and we have lunchtime staff to monitor this. I was wondereing if anyone has any advice when planning this hour and 20 minutes. I thought calm time and story, then eat then outdoor play? Any advice would be greatly recieved. Thanks so much Jayne x

Potties - Help Please
by Guest- 24 replies

As I said back in May this year (another topic!), I am averse to the use of potties in our sessional pre-school because there isn't anywhere to clean them properly. The setting where I work has just acquired a potty for "communal use". I'm not happy with this. I'd rather go for a "fit on the loo seat" if children cannot manage the toilet as it is. I had gone along with "children's own potties" (i.e. the potty from home) up to a point. I would say to the adult collecting (if possible) that the potty had been cleaned, but not properly (and I always tied it up in a plastic bag after it had been used and cursorily cleaned). I was bothered about this, but not as bo…
