Hi all, We have had a new child start with us who is potty trained, however she is only 18 months old and we have no toilet training facilities in her room. the room for the over 2 year olds have a toilet and we have been taking her to that room to use the toilet, however, it is quite a walk and leaves a ratio issue. We have been talking about whether it is appropriate to move her to the next room although emotionally she is not ready. or whether we should have a lidded potty for the room to use however this will have its own issues of emptying, cleaning and privacy. It is currently not possible to put a toilet in her room because of no wastepipe near th…

Has anyone re-done their SenD policy this year, to include recent changes April 2015 and to include the LIFT process. If so would anyone be so kind as to share it? After a recent SENCO training, I am fully aware that there is no longer CAF or IEP's (these are now called 'Targeted plans'. I have looked on the Kelsi website ( I am in Kent) for help with devising my new policy, but no luck. Can anyone help?

Is this still a big no-no? We haven't microwaved baby bottles for years but someone said they did and I wondered if it's still considered unsafe. My thinking is that it's not safe due to the milk not heating evenly (hot spots) and some reaction between the heating and the plastic bottles, but I have a feeling bottles are made of different plastic these days. Any opinions?

We have spoke many times about introducing it but it's always just been on our to do list, but now it's time to get it going!! We only operate for 2 full days which incorporate the lunch club facility the other days are part days, pre school lunch time is busy it has to be such a quick turnaround that it can be hectic for the adults I need to add, the children can take as little or as long as needed. We know tooth brushing should happen 30 mins after eating and for how long etc, My question to those who already do this; How do you clean, store, label …

Smoking policy

We've been having issues with staff smoking with their nursery uniforms on in our smoking area. My manager wants staff to completely change their clothes where as others have suggested a non smoking site. I personal think both, but is this too harsh? What are other nurseries policies? I'm very concerned about the affects of third hand smoke to the children especially the babies.
