Crb Checks (again)
by Guest Praesus Infelix- 15 replies

Hi, I know there have been other threads on this but I'd like to know if the situation has changed lately. The most recent advice we got from ofsted (on the phone, as per usual) was that anyone helping in the classroom needed a CRB check. Since we now need to pay for volunteers this is going to be very expensive. Does anyone have anything recent in writing? Does the "visitor" approach still work? In confusion...

Hi i have a new parent who has refused consent to let us put on sun cream however she is insisting that her child goes out to play. Has anyone else come across this and if so what action did you take, would you allow this i dont feel its right and have asked the parent to reconsider her decision other wise we cannot allow the child to play out on sunny days, is this unreasonable of me.. This same parent wants to bring her own food and does not want the child to have anything our housekeeper makes, i have worries about this too as if the child falls ill because of something he has eaten at the nursery and the safe transportation of the food to the nursery where would we s…

Outcomes Link

How does everyone link their policies and procedures and operational plan to the 5 outcomes? Do you think we will all need to revamp with EYFS? I find this all confusing as trying to do new operational plan as part of degree, having to undertake accreditation through NDNA and LEA want us to prepare for Foundations For Quality. I feel I am getting buried under paperwork and going round in circles and just duplicating work in different formats. Is it just me? Or am I making too much of it. Tell me it is not just me and how you have sorted it

Hi everyone Hope you're enjoying the break, in between paperwork etc! We have been approached by a volunteer wanting to work in our group whilst doing the NVQ2. We haven't done this before, want to make sure we get it right. She has filled in application form, as for a new member of staff, and we are going to take up the references. Was wondering if anybody has an example of a letter you send asking for references? Do you have standard questions you ask? We've had a change of chairperson, and I would lilke to give her an example of an uptodate letter to compare with what we normally send, and I thought this would be the place to come as I know you gu…

I have just reviewed our outings policy and am not inspired by the current aim. We take children on outings and walks in the local environment, to include walks to the library, the shops, around the community, and to the park. Can anyone share an Aim with me please?

First Response...

Hi all It seems i will have to make my first call to First Response regarding two children who attend our setting. Just wondered if any of you have experience with this kind of thing. Its the kind of situation that you know you have to make the call, but cant help worrying about the possible implications. The information i have to share is really hear-say from another parent, but since being told has answered some of our questions, so to speak - and we have been advised to contact first response. We have all the correct policies and procedures in place for this situation but it still doesnt make it easy to pick up the phone...even though we all know yo…
