Ingested Substances

Hi all.. I'm the manager of a private day nursery and haven't been a member of this lovely site for very long. I haven't made many posts, mainly because I've been reading lots of the excellent ideas people are coming up with. My reasoning for this post is to ask for some advice.. I want to write a policy on ingesting substances which alter the mind; this includes drinking alcohol at lunch time and also substances which are more difficult to detect. I wonder if anyone can help me out. I'm thinking about what I can do if I suspect someone of drinking or using drugs while they've been on lunch break. How do I prove it? What steps can I take based on a suspicion…

Indoor And Outdoor Shoes Policy

Hi everyone. I was wondering whether anyone could help me. I need to write an indoor shoe policy and am not sure where to begin. It seems to me that really it only needs to be a sentance or two long, but obviously this isn't enough for a whole ploicy. I work in a private day nursery and we are currently working our way through the NDNA quality counts accreditation. Any suggestions for this would be great. Thank you. Becky x

Curriculum Policy

Hi! I've just discovered this site....wow, what a brilliant idea! I'm a qualified nursery teacher giving foundation stage support to a Children's Centre- they've asked me to help them write a "Curriculum Policy" to put in their portfolio for the Quality Counts award. They don't want anything long and involved apparently - just something short and sweet that sums up their approach to teaching and learning - has anybody else written a similar policy that I could have a look at? Many thanks!

Hi I was thinking of putting together a leaflet for the parents over the holidays about what they put it their child's lunch box's, many of the children's lunch box's are filled with chocolate bars, sausage rolls and unhealthy snacks, one child had 2 chocolate bars, 3 biscuits and a packet of crisps, very unhealthy and the child took ages to munch their way through it. Just wondered if anybody else does this?

Gifted And Talented Policy
by Guest- 3 replies
Hello I've been asked to identify our Gifted and Talented children in nursery. I know this group is supposed to consist of about 2% of the total children we have. Has anyone done much in this area? We are aware of the various abilities of all our children through everyday assessment and observations and information from parents but I would appreciate any ideas of ways to extend this. Also does anyone have a policy for Gifted and Talented learners in nursery which they would be kind enough to share? Thank you.

Hi, our committee are currently updating some of our Policies - we hope not to have left anything out - has anyone got a fairly recent Special Needs policy which they don't mind sharing. I think we've covered everything except the mention of the DDA. and don't quite know how or where to include a mention of it. Hope someone can help - you usually do Thanks again
