Planning Meetings

Hi We have had our early years advisor in today. She has gone over the pre-school, looking at all areas. She has told me that i need to get more staff input for short term planning. At the moment we have a meeting with all staff. They contribute ideas that we could do onto a medium term plan connected with the topic. I then take these and transfer them onto a weekly plannning sheet. They also tell me which areas we need to work on for their keyworker children and we arrange some focus activities for these. I just wondered how much imput all the staff have in your short term planning as i am not sure how i am going to organise it so staff have more imput. Thanks

Non Attendance Policy

Hi I'm just in the process of writing our non attendance policy. How long do you give the parents when they do not attend. I am writing this after not having a child turn up for 11 weeks, giving her space to someone else, then she comes back. I feel i need this policy to cover us in case this situation arises again but i was unsure how long we should keep the space open when they make no contact to say where they are and don't return our calls. Just wondered how long everybody else gives. Thanks any advice much appreciated.

I'm trying to find out if there is a certain amount of time that children should be allowed on the computer? I'm concerned about the effects on eyesight etc. Also should there be a certain distance between the user and the screen? Our ict co=ord has looked into this and said not, but I was wondering if anybody knows any different? Also I'm thinking of getting a lower case keyboard for the childrens use-does anybody use them already? Thanks! (thats how I feel after browsing the web for too long!)

Hi all, We had a staff meeting tonight to review our Snacks, lunch and food policy. The main focus that the discussion took was about contents of lunch boxes with regard to Healthy eating ( outcome being healthy). Recently we have noticed that although most children now bring a piece of fruit in their lunch boxes the rest of their food is quite unhealthy, such as chocolate spread sandwiches, lunchables or are they called snackables?, lots of processed foods, chocolate bars etc. Also some children arrive with enough food to feed the whole group We discussed whether we had a right to tell parents what not to include in lunch boxes, ie: crisps, chocolate, sweets et…

I'm going to update our operational plan over half-term (somewhen!) because it's got into a bit of mess. It needs re-organising and I'm going to use the format posted on here a little while ago. Do you replace old letters/newsletters etc with the current ones or do you keep them all in the operational plan? Our file is getting very big. I did wonder about starting a completely new operational plan, keeping the old one in tact to show historical information, but I do want a life as well! Not sure I've explained myself very well. It's been a long day. Great fun though, a Chinese family came in to see the children, with wonderful artefacts, we did lion danc…
