Nappy Disposal

Hi I work in a mainstream school in the FS and we have a downs boy coming in September who is in nappies - does anyone know if there is a policy for the disposal of nappies? As he will be the only one in nappies do we need to arrange for incineration or can they be bagged and binned? Thanks Jo

Procedure For Settling In

Hello there. I run a Playgroup for 3 - 4 year olds, and we recently had an inspection (in June). The inspector commented on the fact that some of the children still found it difficult to share, and suggested that this was usually as a result of a poor settling in procedure. So I was wondering if any of you more experienced folk could cast an eye over our settling in procedure and maybe suggest how we could make it better. At present, we settle all 24 of the children in over 4 weeks (September) by staggering the intake. I am an NQT in a nursery attached to a primary school, I have had a successful year and they have asked me to stay on and are going to make my temp contract perm. My early years coord is leaving at the end of the year (july) when I have finished my induction year! I am very interested in applying for the position however do not want governors to be put off by my age, 23 and given that I will have only been a qualified teacher for a year- I was deputy of a private nursery for a year before I started my teacher training and so all the exp is there and I am very confident! I am sure, quite a while ago, there was a posting relating to how long we keep paperwork. It was quite a long list - including accounts, childs attendances, incidents books, payments, funding, milk claims forms, Pre-school registration certificates, staff details etc, etc, etc. I rememer being quite shocked as to how long some items should be kept. One of the items was to be kept for 40 years!!! Well, I have decided that my house just can't take the strain any more --- got to sort it out, stop hoarding and THROW STUFF OUT!!!!
