Hi everyone! I am fairly new to teaching and have been made the FS coordinator. My head has asked me to write a Foundation Stage Policy as my school does not have one, can anyone make any suggestions as to where I might look for ways to compose this document? Thanks Sizzy

Bullying Policy
by Guest- 6 replies

Hello Does anyone have a specific bullying policy for pre-school. Ive had a look at the member-donated policies and I have noticed that the behaviour policy seems to cover this a little bit. My problem is that I have one child at the minute that seems to be targeting another child, saying things like "You're stupid" "You're not my friend" The problem is that as a staff team, we have not heard any of this, because although there is nowhere that the children are unsupervised, with 24 children, we do not hear every word. The targeted child will not come and tell us when it is happening, and parent is quite rightly upset, as it is affecting child's self-esteem. Have…

Hi everyone, Need some help with policies. Have looked through other posts and still totally confused. I know how to write the policies and procedures but have just had my psla officer in and am now totally lost, I have all the basic ones and when I had my ofsted I didn't have any missed out, but now I have been told I need a 'cancellation of funding policy', a policy and procedure if anything was to happen to my building, signing in and out policy, toileting policy etc. I have now sent off for the policy booklet from psla but how do you know what policies and procedures you need. It seems to me that you have to have one for every eventuality. So far with none of the ab…

I have been on a child protection course today. We were told that any incident of a child arriving at pre-school with an injury should be recorded. Not only recorded but that we should date and sign the record and get the parent/carer to sign too. I dont have a problem with the recording but do have doubts/concerns about asking parents to sign. The speaker gave the example of a child arriving with a 'fat lip' and mum saying he had fallen on the way to preschool. Mum then collects the child and says 'What has happened to his lip' and the member of staff, clearly bemused says ' You said this morning that he fell on the path on the way here' and mum says 'No I didnt…

Hi Just wondered if anyonw has, has seen, know where I can find, a policy for use of CCTV in preschool settings??? I am not talking about the children being filmed during daily activities but we have cameras operating and a tv screen in the main room. The screen shows two outsides areas (front and rear) and inside the entrance. There are no cameras in the main room and children only appear on screen as they enter the building. Nonethless we need some code of practice/policy - any suggestions welcome!

I've just attended a course on appraisals. My setting does not have this practice in place, however I can see the benefits. Does anyone have a form they have or give me advice with the implementation on this? Many thanks Angie

Accident Books 1 2
by Guest- 44 replies

Following on from the discussion about behaviour incident books, I was told at a meeting of Playgroup Network last year that the old style accident books, where accidents etc. are listed on a page, should no longer be used. A separate sheet should be used for each accident and this should not be visible for other parents/carers to see. We now use a duplicate book and give the top copy to the parent. The carbon copy is folded back and attached to the front cover so that children's details are not seen. Linda

Hi, we are considering asking a local preschool music provider to offer weekly sessions for the children. I know of at least two organisations that provide this sort of thing (one is Jo jingles) the other less well known. I wonder if any of you have a group visiting and if it's something you recommened many thanks Sally

Do you have these in place and if so how do you work your confidentiality and child protection? Presumably the parents can go online and watch their child at play. What happens if a parent doesnt want their child on camera, or if a child is hit by another child and the parents see. What do you do about the parents who want to view their child from their office computer, who else could be watching? Can you be 100% that parents arent saying to work collegues 'come and look at little charlie with his friends' One of whom could be living in a secret location. What about sound, can the parents hear you and if so, how do you talk about the fact that little charlies dad isnt a…
