Hi, I am about to update our operational file. I used a content page which listed everything in the following outcomes: Be healthy , Stay Safe, Enjoy and achieve, Make a positive contribution, Achieve economic well-being and organisation . Under these headings I put in all relevant info . I was wondering how others organise theirs to see if there is a better way? thanks Lisa

Has anyone used the new service yet? If so how did you find it worked was it as quick and efficient as it sounds like it should be? Have any of you updated your policies yet as to accepting the portable evidence?

Has anyone got one of these that I could have a look at to see what I need to put in. Having spent the last 6 hours reviewing policies I can't think straight (and, oh deep joy, i've still got 3 hours of first aid training to go) and thought I would cheekily ask the experts!

Induction and Home Visiting

Hiya, I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to share their policies and procedures on inducting children into the setting either in house or through home visits - inc. information you give to parents, eyfs booklet for example or do you talk through the eyfs or both. Currently our manager runs through things with parents but some things are being missed and I feel we need a proper procedure so that others can do it if she is unavailable as we take children all through the year from aged 2. I've read a few topics on Home visits and it seems most Pre-school/nurseries don't offer them mainly due to cost and safety. However, i've been made aware of a few settings i…

Hi, I am asking a 'mahoosive' favour from you lovely residents of FSF. Could you kindly fill out a survey for little old me please? Its about the oh so battered to death 'Parent Partnership'. Its a very basic survey (I am rubbish at putting surveys together, so please bear with me!) and it shouldnt take too much of your time. Thanking you in advance https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PP2013 (I heard you could buy virtual chocolate..... :1b .)

Hi All, Just wanted to pick your brains if I may regarding the above - as you know I took over setting a year ago and still so much to do and this is a job I have put off - we use several forms really for the same purpose but they do differentiate. When a parent shows an initial interest a regisitration form goes out and then when they come for a visit they then fill out an admissions form although much of the info is either repeated or excluded form one form and then in other and it is time wasting and confusing , so as I begin to redo this - I was wondering if any of you would give me an idea of what you do and what your forms include please

Deliberate damage by children

I am currently re-writing our parent contracts for the nursery and out of school club. I want to address the problem of deliberate damage to toys and resources by children in our out of school club. Unfortunately we have a few 8/9 year old boys who have bent all the new coat pegs on purpose egging each other on and other incidents where a 9 year old scribbled body parts (yes you can guess which) on two new books the first day we got them, graffiti in the boys toilets, heads pulled off dolls etc. We have been through 3 air hockey tables and 2 TV's since we opened 5 years ago through deliberate damage. I spend a ridiculous amount of money each year replacing deliberatel…

Can you have only Level 3 and over?
by Guest- 1 follower

I see problems on here all the time about staff who just aren't that 'into' their roles and treating this profession as a handy job that fits round the kids. Are you allowed to say you will only employ Level 3 and over to ensure your staff really want to be there? If you already have someone at a Level 2 that is in this situation, would you be within rights to insist that they begin a Level 3 if they are serious about keeping their position?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help, i'm looking for the name of the monitoring tool for settings. It looks at all aspects of the setting and gives you example of practice enabling you to see where you are and how to improve. I have been trudging the internet for hour trying to find it - you have to pay for the booklet arrggghhh!!! What's it called! I've been on maternity leave for ever and am returning to work after Christmas...trying to get bits in order and use my frozen brain before I return. Thanks Sal

Hi all I am a child minder who looks after a child after school. He had been very sick with a bug and had been off school for the day and didnt attend my setting. I reminded mum of the 48hr rule and said I would not be able to look after him the following day either. Mum is very unhappy about this as he returned to school but she had to make other arrangements for him to be collected from there. I understand that it looks odd that school allow him back in but I wont, but still think I am right to protect the other children in my care as well as my own family. She also doesnt think she should pay as it was me who wouldnt let him attend! I am collecting hi…
