I have been thinking that our policies tend to be about the welfare of the children and the parents rather than the staff. I would like to add an Ethical Business policy that sets outs the ethos behind how we give staff hours, how we pay them ( aim is to be as much as can afford above minimum wage) and how we support them when there are problems. Does anyone have something like this?

Dedicated Facebook Page 1 2

Hi, We are considering setting up a Facebook page for our Playgroup, which I and another member of staff are happy to moderate. I just wondered if anyone already has one and whether they have a policy on it that they might like to share? I'm assuming that as long as confidentiality is observed and no photos of the children are posted, there shouldn't be any problem and it could be a great way of sharing news, wish lists, reminders etc. Would love to hear everybody elses views on this before we go ahead...

Hi We are in the process of changing our consititution from the standard PLA to a version of it that steers away from a committee run setting. We are looking to run with 3 trustees and 2 members of staff are who are the 'management'. The staff - me and my supervisor will be running the preschool lock stock and barrel but we need the trustees to stay as a charity. Therefore need a constitution that states the trustees are not financially liable and are not responsible for the day to day running. I am sure someone out there can help - many thanks

Hi - I think I may have posted this question in the wrong place, so I'll try again here. I work in a preschool and we haven't made a start on our self evaluation on line form Yet. (Yes I know we're way behind). One thing we need is a survey form to hand out to parents. It will take me ages to come up with one. As you all seem so helpful I'm hoping someone will come to my rescue and attach one I can at least use to get me started .... I'd be so grateful Cheers jennymac

Hello I was wondering if someone could clarify for me please. Is there a legal requirement when serving snack to children in pre-school to wear disposable aprons and gloves or can we wear a wipedown apron without gloves? I would be interested in hearing what other settings do. thank you kindly

As part of our Minimum Standards published in NI in July we have been asked to devise a policy called Intimate Care Policy, basically on how we intend to care for our children whilst in our setting. Does anyone have one of these policies? Would you be interested in sharing this with us? Thank you all in advance.

Inclusion,SEN & Safeguarding Folders

Does anyone have an individual folder specifically for SEN, Inclusion and Child Protection/Safeguarding Children?. I have policies for all, but have been informed that it would be good practice to put all relevant information in to folders, with master copies or a list informing everyone where they are able to find certain information. If anyone does have separate folders could you please share with me, what information I should have. Do you have a audit list? Look forward to the replies.

Does anybody have a policy or a written expectation that can be given to parents about posting things about the pre-school on Facebook etc, I suppose like a code of conduct. One of our parents recently wrote something very negative about the pre-school in the heat of the moment, when she was not coping with her child. I spoke to her straight away and she apologised and the matter was resolved and the content removed from the website. But it could really have had a negative knock on effect to anyone reading it who does not know us or that particular situation. I brought up that we respect families confidetiality but it has too be a two way respect. Would love to hear …
