We have a little girl who has just turned 3 and she has severe behaviour issues. There are very few times that she is actually well behaved. She doesn't keep attention to anything for more than literally 1 minute at a time, watching her you can see she is constantly looking round for something to "do". Last week for example she stood in the middle of the room looking around at the children with her finger tapping her chin then ran to a chile and pulled her hair, as I witnessed it I spoke to her and explained etc etc, straight afterwards she ran to a child and took a toy they were playing with, she'll then run and knock down towers, tip over boxes etc etc and this is const…

Hi, does anyone have anything in their collection policies regarding the age of people collecting children ? I am in the process of reviewing ours and was going to include no persons under the age of 18 unless they have parental responsibility but maybe 16 is better ?

Good Press

Hi everyone! Sorry to always post about college work but I still need good press about the food safety act, risk assessments and the data protection act IN childcare settings. This could be as simple as an article about that SIMS program that schools use to register pupils and how it protects the data of children because you have to log into it! Or how a setting was able to deal with an incident effectively because they had carried out a thorough risk assessment! Anything ringing a bell? I need to hand this work in on Friday 15th and have been searching for this type of article since my last post in may! Thank you!

I'm a student studying child care, a few weeks a go I made a post asking for articles of several acts/legislation's/policies that weren't being carried out effectively that ended in an incident, I've just received it back and I now need to add in articles proving they are carried out effectively and do work in most settings! I need articles on... adult to child ratio, food safety act, sudden illness procedure, risk assessments and data protection act. If anyone knows of any articles or the type of website I may be able to find these on it would be very very helpful. I've trawled the internet but can't think why this type of article would be published because surely if …

Hi all How far in advance do you allocate places. We are a new nursery and are getting requests for places in September (fee paying) Obviously we do not want to allocate a place at the moment in case someone else comes in and wants it earlier. Would you charge them full or possibly half fees up to sept to secure their place. Hope this makes sense

Hi interested to hear what others do. We have always taken children in date of birth order, with the next criteria being within a local radius and then siblings etc. It has recently become apparent that some parents for whatever reason maybe financial, or haven't got in their first choice setting etc. What is now happening is children that have been on our list for some considerable time and parents that only want them to come to us are now getting pushed further down the list by the latecomers. Any suggestions or thoughts on this would be gratefully received.
