We have been fourtunate enough to be given a grant to up grade our book corner. Does anyone have any links to useful recommended reading for children aged 2-4 yrs. I would like the books for both independent reading, story time with both fiction and non fiction title. I am wondering whether there is any merit in the staff choosing some of their favourites too as this will no doubt be reflected in their reading too. Handy tips on inexpensive ways to overhaul our book corner greatly appreciated also. Thanks

Morning All, which do you give to the children in your setting ?? It is reccommended that children under 5 should have full fat (blue top) unless they have a good diet they can have semi - some settings use full -so just asking who uses what and why and where do you base your decision on ? also what variety of food /snack do you offer ?? mostly fruit and veg, only fruit and veg or a variety to cover all food areas?? All response greatly appreciated lashes

Hi All, I am sure it is on here somewhere so apologies for not finding it but can i just ask others how you record incidents - my previous setting we had forms specifically for when another child really hurt another intentionally e,g- biting , aggressive behaviour punching etc parent were then asked to sign after being informed and for the other child who was the receiver (for want of better word) an accident form was filled out. my staff were never made aware of this and only filled out an accident form - we have seperate incident forms for safeguarding - just wondered how other did it and what you perceive to be correct procedure Thanks Lashes

Good morning! first post, so be gentle with me A colleague came back from a course this week stating that she had been told by the trainers that under no circumstances should the learning journals leave the premises, even with the parents. Now, we have only recently changed our policy on this as we had realised that some parents werent getting access to it - working mums etc and our SIP had said it was ok. I'm afraid we do also take them home (i have 12 to update - I just could not possibly do them at work - I would never leave the place....) but I do understand thats not ideal and probably not advisable but I try to keep it to a minimum. I'm wondering if other sett…

Hi all, I've been trawling through the welfare requirements and can't find anywhere that stipulates the legal requirement for recommended room temperature for the baby room in a nursery. I found on page 35 of the EYFS Statutory guidance - Rooms should be maintained at a temperature which ensures the comfort of the children and staff, including non-mobile children. And through google found http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1999/2/regulation/20/made Areas where there is a lower than normal level of physical activity because of sickness or physical disability including sick rooms and isolation rooms but not other sleeping accommodation 21°C Areas where t…
