How Much Paperwork...?
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi, I'm a Deputy Manager at a small Playgroup. Last term I stepped upto acting Manager as my manager was off really poorly. Now she's back and thankfully recovering I'm trying to lighten her load of paperwork (I have a renewed appreciation of how much work is involved). My question is this. Does anyone have or know of a comprehensive list of the policies and procedures, plans and other paperwork that is absolutely obligatory and a list for things that are good practice. On the plus side we were OFSTEDed last term (We were a manager and another member of staff down with a bank staff to help...how my heart sank!) and got a 'Good' so obviously everything that needs to b…

I am looking for anyone who has photos of children's message pots made out of empty drinks bottles e.g. coke/lemonade with their photo on the front. I have been trying to explain to other practitioners what they look like and how to fix them to a wall or display board but they don't know what I mean - a photo would be great to show them - can anyone help. Thanks PS or any other easy/cheap options for making message pots for children which can easily be changed for 26 am and pm nursery children so they can put their mark making into a pot and also put messages in each others.

I don't suppose by some miracle anyone has already typed out some SEAL/SEAD activity cards....a bit like the letters and sounds ones....? I want to incorporate these activities into the Nursery and would find it useful to have them on cards so I can give them to different key workers. Anyone???

Wow I've been asking lots of questions on here lately As you may have gathered, work is really rather stressful at the moment! My latest problem is with a member of staff who ignores policies - namely our mobile phone one which is: Mobile Phone Usage Policy The pre-school accepts that employees and volunteers will bring their mobile phones to work. All mobile phones must be stored in the designated box in the buttery or kitchen. Employees are not permitted to make calls/texts during work time unless it is urgent, if it arises that a call needs to be made, staff must not use their phones in the playrooms but should use the foyer or storage room. If an …

Hello , please can I ask other pack away settings about their nappy changing procedure. We have a mat on the floor , in toilet area. We wipe it clean after each child with antibac spray and paper towel . My question is - should we be using some of that couch roll paper towel on the mat for each child ?????

We are a nursery pack away setting with 2- 4 year olds and have started to use the school P.E. equipment. Does anyone know if there is a recommended height from which children can jump or where I can find out?

I work in childcare and a friend of mine who works in another setting, a full day care setting, recently told me that her boss pulled a troublesome child by his arm across the floor about 25ft, because he would not go where he was suppose to go when asked, he was laying on the floor and would not get up. She held his hand and pulled him to where he was suppose to go, he was still laying on the floor and was not struggling, but was being dragged along. I told her to report it but she hasnt because she is worried of the implications for her boss who she said was doing it in a jovial way. What do people think, is this acceptable, I think not but how would this be dealt with?

Hi I could do with a little advice/input!!! We take alot of pictures for our obs and it seems a shame that whilst parents see some they do not see all, so i came up with the bright idea of sharing photos every half term or so with parents via e-mail ( photos that contained their child). I spoke to parents who are really keen and did a letter of consent which parents have returned, it explianed that pictures of their child may go to another parent as that parents child was in the photo and vice versa. I now am getting cold feet!!! whilst everyone is up for it i am worried about what parents could do with pictures when they have the, eg post on facebook when the photo inc…
