Hi there, this is my first post on here, after recent discussions we are trying to develop an induction pack for new staff and we are struggling to decide what to put in it.. We are a small pre-school operating morning sessions, we have a mature staff team and staff changes don't happen very often but we feel it would be good to have something official in place!! Can anyone offer any suggestions please?? Thanks in advance Karen

Hi all, Just wondering how many of you actually photocopy policies and give a copy to parents. Or do you leave one copy outside for parents just to look at. I have 40 children on my books, i thought photocopying that amount is a lot. Thank you Dorinda

Hi all, We're in the middle of setting up a governor led pre-school. Had a parent come in today and ask to see our policies and procedures. So far we are using the school's policies and adding onto them if appropriate. Does anyone have a list of the policies they have in their pre-school so I can make sure we aren't missing anything. Many thanks.

Am trying to find a wooden storage chest with little baskets in so I can put in each basket things for nursery rhymes. Like a story sack but in a basket. Have seen one somewhere but can't find it. Most in TTS etc have ones but the baskets are too big and deep. Anyone know of a company I could look at???

Hi Here I am again asking a huge favour - would anyone mind sharing their 'student' policies with me please - mine needs tweaking I think. What do you all do when approached by school students (age 14/15) looking for 'work experience' placements - do you interview? what do you give them as means of introduction - completely new to this role (as a former colleague had this responsibility however, she has moved to pastures new). Thanks - relying on you all as always x

Hi all, we have a problem with a parent at our Nursery. We have been informed to put together an 'Unacceptable Behaviour Policy' for parents/visitors and was wondering if anyone out there already has one that we could tweak. The children are lovely but the parent has been spreading very bad things which are completely untrue about a member of staff, now myself and the nursery in general. The parent has upset a lot of other people on the way too. All they are saying is untrue and this can be backed up by lots of other professional bodies who, haven't supported in a certain area and now the parent will not have anything to do with them. We have informed Ofsted and…

Just looking for a few opinions! I have a member of staff who has been working two mornings a week for a year now. She has just completed her EY foundation degree, and is now enrolled to do the top up for the full BA. In my opinion, she is very competent in all areas, but does sometimes struggle to get a larger group of children to listen/follow instructions. I've always considered this to be a slight lack of confidence and have been gradually introducing opportunities for her to develop both the skill and confidence. However, she is an Eastern European, and whilst her English is good she does make some grammatical errors and has an accent. Today i was challenged …

Hi, I was at uni the other day and we are doing early childhood development at the moment focusing this week on language development. Tutor has told us our homework is to have a look at our settings 'language development policy' and prepare something on how we promote language development in the setting. I have no problem with the second bit and can easily explain how we do it but we don't have a policy for it so if anyone else has one I would realy like to have a look please.
