Just wondered if anyone had a key worker policy? We usually let the children chose key workers but all the template policies i have found are for settings that decide on keyworkers prior to starting at the setting

hi hope you can help. Does anyone have a leaflet of suggestions for parents when settling in thier children. I want something to hand to parents thats on the lines of bullet points. say goodbye to your child, do not talk about them in earshot (put better than that). do not feel guilty if you have to stay. take your time. You know where I am coming from any help appreciated as we have parents who are just dumping thier children and running without saying goodbye and not being positive about their stay at playgroup. thanks Buttercup

Hi Has anyone got a care plan pro forma that I can have a look at. We have a child starting with sickle cell anemia this term and the insurance want me to write one. I have never written one before and don't know where to start. I have found the details of the disease in one of my child care books and will get input from Mum but it would be good if I had something to start with. Many Thanks in advance.

We always stress to parents about how valuable it is staying with their children if they are unsettled, and to just 'go with the flow' for when to leave them some children settle straight away some don't We ask parents how long they want us to try to pacify the child before we call them in should they leave them a little unsettled. For parents who work together with us this works a treat, and the children will soon settle. BUT is it just us? we seem to be getting more and more mums who find it very annoying to be called because their child is distraught. we have even over heard a mum saying today that she is paying us to look after her child, she shouldn't be called …

Child Protection/photography Policy

Hello everyone, I wonder if you can tell me if you have a setting camera you use for photographs of the children or if members of staff use their own cameras? At the moment we use our own but in a recent child protection course they said we should not be doing this. The argument was that there are lots of children and staff were concerned there would be so many pictures and no one would remember whose were whose and generally fighting over the cameras I would be grateful to hear what you all do, thanks

Hi I am trying to update our rather long winded and confusing administration of medicines forms. I have 1 for short term meds (ie for one off use such as a short course of antibiotics), where we get the parent to sign to give us permission to administer, then staff sign on administering the med, then parent signs at end of the session. We have a seperate form for long term meds for ongoing conditions. This form is signed by the parent to authorise staff to give meds to a child. We then sign every time we administer, but is it necessary for us to get the parent to sign daily as well? If anyone would like to share the systems/paperwork they use, I would be most grat…
