Pla Policy On Confidentiality

Is anyone using the most recent policies from the PLA? and if so can you clear something up for me please? I am currently matching our policies to those in the book for review of the policies at tomorrow's ( ) AGM and I can't make out if they mean that parents have to write in for permission to view their child's Learning Journey or just records such as safeguarding records, etc. I'm slightly braindead and wishing I'd got this done much earlier in the month so I would be very grateful if you can help confirm what I think is the answer. Thanks

Child Protection Log

Does anyone have a form where they log child protection concerns?? Either marks/bruises we have noticed or things the children say (disclosure). I've seen in the past a form with pictures of a body where you can mark bruises etc. I would be very grateful if someone could put one on here for me to look at. Thank you in advance!

Incident Book

Hi, Do you have an incident book as well as an accident book?. I feel I need somewhere to note down low-level behaviour incidents such as hitting, pinching, spitting in order to keep a record and look for patterns. Where do you record such things and if you have an incident book is it one you made yourself in a ring binder format or a bought type thing? Thanks

Where Do You Keep Yours?

Hi, everyone. This question came up at our staff meeting this afternoon. Our completed accident forms forms are in a ringbinder which is kept on the shelf in the office. We are the sole users of the building and the office is locked when we are not there and only myself and deputy have a key. We just wondered if they would need to be kept in a locked filing cabinet as well. What does everyone else do? Thanks, Mary

Free Flow Snack/garden
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi....just a quick question before I leave for work regarding free flow. I work in the pre school room of a large nursery. We have only one garden for the 3 rooma and share our garden time between the toddlers and the babies....we are allocated an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. During this time the children choose either to go outside, stay inside or have their snack. We can only have a max of 12 children outside and we manage who is out or in by a system of the children putting their names up on a velcro board as they go out and taking them off when they come in. My question is how do you manage the times when most children want to be outside a…

Are you registered with an authority with regards to data protection? What is in your data protection policy? I've been advised to look at the ICO web site which I have had a very quick look at but nothing on there says '.....playgroup you need to fill in this form'! so I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable people before I have to sit a read the whole lot!

Key Worker Groups
by Guest- 10 replies

I am taking over a maintained nursery class in September and went to visit last week. I asked them about how they manage the key person approrach (which I am currently operating and understand well) and they told me that they run key worker groups-not key person groups. Basically they have the chn in 3 groups and each adult has 1 group each which they work with, carry out observations for etc. The main difference from true key workers is that they swap groups around the adults each week. What do people think about this? Do others work in this way? I am unsure whether I want to keep this set up or change it- would value any input!

Snack Time And Hand Washing
by Guest- 26 replies

I'm after some advice having observed this morning's session as a helper (I'm a parent and also chair of committee). We've been debating the whole snack time versus rolling snack for a while, and staff are convinced of the value of having the children sit down together. I'm fine with that, but on a Wednesday we have lots of children in and the whole thing just seemed to take ages this morning. Also, normally we get them all to wash their hands but given that most of them had been painting and had already washed hands, they just got the ones who needed the toilet to wash hands and let the rest of them sit down without bothering. To my mind this is fine, especiall…
