Summary Complaints Record

I wondered if anyone uses the Pre-school Learning alliance version of the Summary complaints record and if so could I be really cheeky and ask what is in it/what the format is. The reason I am asking is back in 2007 we were asked to set up a Complaints log book by Ofsted to log any complaints and I was asked to specify whether the complaint was verbal or written. In updating our policies and using the PSLA Policies and procedures booklet the Making a complaint policy states that we have log all complaints that reach stage 2 or beyond - when a complaint is put in writing. So my question is really do I have to log a complaint if it is verbal, and if not should …

Am I Being Unreasonable?

Hi, I just wanted to get everybody else's opinion. I am working as a nanny at the minute and it's really different from my previous experiances as a nursery manger. I am really close to the children and feel quite protective of them, as a result I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable to feel a bit annoyed, please tell me the truth, I can take it The other day I dropped the child off at playgroup and left her coat and bag in the cloakroom. When I picked her up later on I asked her if she had a nice time to which she replied she was shaking (I should probably mention that she is a really robust child, rarely becomes upset, if she falls over just picks herself up …

Staff Babysitting 1 2 3

Hi I work in a children centre where one of the parents approached our outreach worker about a member of creche staff babysitting for her (this particular staff member has been trained in a medical procedure which her child requires). We havent approached the creche staff member yet as we dont have a policy in place? If the staff member says yes, it might put other staff members (such as the outreach worker) in an awkward position as it would be inappropriate for some members of staff to do this? Does anyone have a policy in place for this type of thing or any advice for me? Thanks you jx

Hi Thought I would ask you all out there before I have to invent one - but does anyone have a pro forma for an action plan which they would use if a child had been diagnosed with a 'notifiable disease' (from the list identified in the Public Health (Infection Diseases) Regulations 1988). If not I'll try and invent one! Thank you

Children Arriving
by Guest- 15 replies

Hi, I am a Foundation Stage Teacher and also a committee member for my children's nursery. Their nursery takes children from 2 to pre school and there seems to be no differentation in the age groups (they are all in 1 room). I recently asked at a committee meeting if they needed to review how the children arrive in the morning as they now take 2 year olds and 2 year olds are very different to 4 year olds! They expect all children to self register and then sit on the carpet which is hard for the children who are on time as they sometimes have to sit for over 15 mins before they start (I witnessed this when I visited with my other child). They used to then do show and…

Hi Does anyone have a CCTV Risk Assessment and Policy they are willing to share? We are a packaway setting and the village hall have just installed cameras that monitor the outside of the building, including where the children play. OFSTED have told me what information I need to get from the village hall committee to then write a risk assessment then policy just looking for some help with drafting it. Any help gratefully appreciated.
