or do you not use them? I've recently overhauled our illness policies and have set up a form for monitoring illness when a child becomes ill at pre-school, one thing that I have added is a temperature monitoring section, BUT we don't have a thermometer So, what sort do you use - if you use one, and also is there anything to say that we shouldn't use one? I've just found out that a child starting with us has had febrile convulsions in the past brought on by high temperature which gets higher very quickly. I have seen this one which I think seems super value but would it be ok to use do you think? being as you have to put it in the ear... http://cgi.eba…

Registered For How Many?!
by Guest- 12 replies

We are registered for 24 children per session in a church hall, but after having extra cupboard space built (three years ago now) we feel it is too much for safety reasons etc. However, although we have asked three committees now to check it (and we have never had real reason before) it has never been done. This year we have had 20 children from Jan on three of our 5 sessions and I am concerned that someone new coming in might argue that registration number. So can we measure it ourselves, do we have to call in local authorities or is it the dreaded Mrs O (who inspected last year with no comment but she came in on one of the low sessions!) Thanks Rach…

Sitting here trying to thing of a better way to make links between settings ... currently ours is very informal and nothing is recorded. We need to, in line with EYFS, make this more formalised. I'm interested to here what other people do. I've thought of having a planned phone call with a Q + A sheet, thought of having a book that goes backward and forwards between settings, thought of having parents as the link ... not wholly happy with any of the above! Has anyone got something that actually works?! If this is in the wrong place ... please move me! (warn me so that I can put my cup of tea down first) Thanks in anticipation!! pw

Does anyone have a zero tolerance policy? Also does anyone have a copy of an incident form for recording a verbal attack on a staff member.
