Parent's Signing Children In And Out
by Guest- 9 replies

We've always had the children self register and we also take a 'fire' register too. However, as we are expecting the 'knock' anyday now I've been reading recent inspection report on the Ofsted website. One thing that pops up now and then is about parents signing the children in and out. Do you do this? If so, do you have pre-printed lists for each day/week or do parents just write in their childs name and time? Thanks.

Updating Operational Plan
by Guest- 11 replies

I'm just starting to do this (not done since 2006 but let's not mention that in the SEF!) Apparently it is meant to relate to the ECM outcomes whatever that means (I'm chair not staff). Is anyone willing to tell me what is in their operational plan as we seem to have odd stuff such as children's contact numbers which are surely confidential!? Thanks in advance.

Hi im after some advice, I want to introduce the children in my setting to a set of rules e.g. no running, biting, being kind and so on. Is it up to us what boundaries/expectations we set for the children. I know alot of places have golden rules is there a site that they use. I've been told that your now not allowed to say no running and instead have to say something along the lines of please walk at school.

Registers / Signing In
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi, At the setting I work in we get the parents to sign their children in on arrival and we sign them in as well, then the parents sign them out, as i'm unsure does anyone know if its an Ofsted or EYFS reqiurement for the parents to sign them in and out, is it possible for just the staff to do it. I know we have to have a register but it does cause a lot of hassel the parents having to wait to sign it.

we have a little girl who is 21/2 at the preschool. She barely talks at all whilst she is with us, to the point that one of the children yelled with excitement when this child said 'yes' to him the other day.Mum reports that, at home, she is a real chatterbox. Also, she will not play, or join in with anything, unless we suggest that she does a particular activity, or plays with particular children. Now, I have been trying to get to the bottom of this and it seems to me that part of the problem is that she has been going to work with her mum since she was 6 weeks old, and because of mum's work, has to be fairly quiet ( mum works with very elderly, frail people, who love to …

Non Payment Of Fees
by Guest- 4 replies

I have searched and read other forum entries on this subject, but was wondering if anyone knew if once a child started at your group on nursery vouchers you could still cancel childs place if parents refuse to pay the fees that they had built up previously. I am geussing not. We did send out a cancellation letter before christmas, but the parent came in on monday to rebook voucher places, promising to pay when she brings her in on wed. however she has promised to pay before and i just know we wont get the money. Do i let the child stay on wed if mum says she will pay when she picks her up or do i ask mum to go back and get the money and then bring child back.

Parent Rota Help
by Guest- 8 replies
If your setting requires regular help from parents/carers on a rota basis, hopefully you can answer my questions! Is a requirement of each parent/carer to help? What if they work? If they don't turn up on their allocated day is there a fine? What sort of jobs do you get them to do? What can't they do? Thanks ppp

Aims, Values And Principles Policy
by Guest- 0 replies
Hi, We're currently updating our A,V & P policy using the EYFS. We want to say how we put the themes and principles into practice and had a meeting today but after 3 hours we were going on and on about what we do! It was like SEF all over again. Does anyone have a good example or ideas as to what exactly is best to put in and how to keep it to the point and like any other policy!? Really appreciate any help at all. xxx
