School Age Child Joining Preschool.

I have a child who should be in a reception class joining my setting in January. The family have just moved to the area and the sibling has obtained a place in our feeder school but there is no place for this child. We have already had this in September where a child stayed with us until a place became available which fortunately was only a few weeks. School transfer in my area has been a nightmare this year with many children waiting for spaces at their favoured school, so the likelihood of the child obtaining a place is quite slim. The child came for a taster session and the child has seperation issues and a history of severe temper tantrums, so transition is going…

Hello, I work in a private school and management would like to establish a Nursery class for 4 or 4 and a 1/2 year olds. Entrance to the school is by a screening test which is suitable for 4 and a half year olds as they are tested in January before the August they start. Does anyone know of a suitable screening or entry assessment test/procedure for three year olds? Thanks!

We had our Ofsted inspection recently and they have asked us to review our medication form as it was a bit dated. Just wondering if members could share the form/s that they use in their settings to give some ideas of the type of thing that needs to be included. I am so aware that medication is a hot topic and certainly something that is scruitinised by Ofsted. Thanks so much!

Hi, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any feedback on how owners/managers of settings deal with personal mobile phone use. Several of my staff have children and as a parent myself I understand the importance of checking up on them. I have a policy in force which means that staff must have their phones on silent and only use them during breaks and lunch? Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Using Handwash Gel At Snacktime?
by Guest- 21 replies
- 1.7k views
Hi all, I've been asked to find out whether it is okay for us to use a squirt of that anti bacterial gel at snack time, rather than getting all the children to wash their hands (which takes up a lot of time). We have considered the rolling snack bar thing but rejected it at the moment, so there are quite a few children to get through hand washing simultaneously at snack time. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I've been told by our EYAT that we should have a CLL Co-ordinator. Do any of you lovely people out there have one and possibly a policy/job description for them. What kind of things do you ask of them? If you have a policy/list/job description etc II'd really appreciate it if you could let me see it!! Many thanks!! Don't forget though - it's nearly Friday!!!
