I do hope I've got this right - it has taken several attempts. I am currently working on a new Early Years Policy for our nursery and Foundation stage class with the EYFS Manager and I wonder if anyone out there has already done all the hard work? and is willing to post a copy on this site - or suggest where I might look - I don't and won't be able to copy it word for word but it will give us a starting point - just headings would give us a leg up - thanks g

Sick Children

We seem to have a lot of children at the moment with older siblings who are off school with chicken pox and this sickness bug thats going around. My question to you all, is, do you allow these sick older siblings into your setting. All of our parents seem to think that it fine for their child to be off school, but then bring them along to our setting to drop off and collect younger child and allow them into the room. We don't actually have a policy on this, so was wondering whether to create one and if anyone had one that I can have a look at. Surely if they are sick enough to be off school, then they shouldn't be allowed to mix with our children who the…

Hi all, For many, many years we have been recording our incidents and accidents in simple triplicate copy small books which staff and parents sign. However these books constantly fall apart and I file them in date order in another folder. I now find out that all accidents recorded should remain in the book. What sort of books do other settings use, I know that the psla have one but you have an entire page which can only be used for one child at a time and I don't know how many pages each book contains. Please can somebody help? Thanks

i would be interested to hear what other preschools do about dealing with children with headlice. do you send them home and allow them to return as soon as they have been treated, or do you allow them to stay. is there any hard and fast rules regarding this
