Hi Although there are 2 first aiders in the room where I work we have been told that we all have to give first aid treatment. Although these are generally grazes etc I feel unhappy about this as I am not first aid trained. Is there anyone else in this position?

Hello folks I have been asked to compile a new handbook for any student placements that we may have. Has anyone got an example that they could share to give a me something to adapt for our setting. I have a few things in mind but would love some expert advice. What types of things shoud I be providing them with? Thank you Apple

Hi, Does anyone have a good example of a Fire Drill Log Sheet that they use in their setting to log basic data (Date and time of drill, time taken to evacuate, numbers involved, evacuation route used etc). I could design one but am pretty bogged down with other stuff right now. Thanks in advance, Martin.

Infection Control

Can anyone tell me where to find details of how long children should be kept away from a setting with certain infectious diseases? I am doing a brochure for new parents and wanted to put this in - and we should also perhaps have something displayed on the wall - but can't seem to find out where to go for the latest info. I tried phoning the PSLA information service and they told me that it was in the EYFS wefare requirements. However all I can find there is a legal requirement to discuss with parents the procedure for children who are ill or infectious, including the possibility of exclusions - but it doesn't seem to say what the exclusion periods should be so PSLA n…

Hi Does anyone have a biting policy in there setting, one chld is doing to all, mainly staff and its very painful. This is unappectable behaviour, but no support from parents, so if anyone has a policy it would be very helpful. Thanks

I have just bought the PSLA's revised EYFS policy book and in their Safeguarding Children policy they have a line saying: 'Our designated officer (a committee member) who oversees this work is: ____________________________________________________________ telephone number' I feel a bit uncomfortable about this as child protection is a very sensitive issue and I am not sure I would want to involve a committee member. As a governor at a Primary School we have a designated governor for Safeguarding. Does anyone else name a committee member in their policy? How do others feel about this? Any opinions/comments would be much appreciated.

Sleep Time Policy

When the children are put to sleep during the day do you stay in the room all the time till they wake up, or leave the room when all asleep and do checks on them every 10 min or so. Please let me know how you do yours as we are having debates!! We currently leave room when all asleep and have a 10 min check and tick list when each child is checked. Thanks
