Hi Thanks for a wonderful site. Really enjoy reading all the info and realizing we're all dealing with the same issues. Can anybody help with a suggested risk assessment form. I believe ours is not adequate. We've looked at all the possible risks for a walk in our village to see the lambs, obtained uptodate guidance from the HSE but believe we need to set it out differently ie say whether it's a low medium high risk etc. Hope you can help! Many thanks! Debbie

Underpinning Legislation?

I wonder if any of you kind and clever people can help stop me going in circles? I am currently updating our policies after a period of consultation in the pre-school. Our local authority has kindly provided a framework for each policy they believe we should have, but true to form they started a job and kinda forgot to finish it properly! They would like us to cite relevant legislation for every policy, but as so many pieces relate to more than one I am proposing we list all the relevant Acts at the beginning of the policies, and this will have the added advantage of cutting down the whole policy book to a length more likely to be read by the parents. Now to where…

Hi, I have just been deemed a suitable person from Ofsted! The very nice lady pointed out that we didn't have a 'complaints summary form' or a complaints log form' - does anyone have a format? (it has to mention the standards) I probably can devise one if not, just being lazy....well I have just had two hours of Ofsted questions and been up until the wee small hours re-hashing our operational plan.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how they carry out their transition for children starting the Nursery. Do you make home visits? If so, how do you organise them, what do you do on them? If home visits are not possible then do you send a questionnaire to find out childrens interests etc before they start in your Nursery? How do you make the settling in period as painless as possible? Sorry for all the questions, hope you can help!
